Before you dive in, let’s get something straight. If you want sunshine and unicorns, go somewhere else. I’m a citizen of the United States and am proud of it.
I’m a self-professed old goat that provides opinions. I’m not politically correct, and I’m not foolish enough to think I have all the answers. But I am tired of being pushed around by a system that caters to the whims of the few, while we the people are being dragged down.
So, why did I start this blog you ask?
Because I give a darn.
Because together, we can make a difference.
I started it as a protest.
I started it to call attention to the issue of homelessness in America.
I started it because we are being misled.
I started it to tell the truth to the best of my ability.
I started it so that, in a small way, I can give voice to the majority and try to do my duty as an American. I want to help ensure that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
"Move to Cuba" you say? THIS IS FOR YOU.
Before you tell me: “If you don’t like it here, move to Cuba”, let me say this…
SCREW YOU. This is MY country too and I want to make it BETTER for ourselves and for our children. YOU move back to Cuba if you have a problem with the 1st Amendment.
Even better, move back to 1775 England. We patriots don’t need the likes of you here.
Our leaders are abandoning the Constitution and we’re fast becoming a police state…
And I don’t like it. I WILL resist.

sometimes, you are the only occupy news I even bother to read anymore. Thank you for covering national stories and keeping this burnt out activist connected to the national movement.
I participate in occupyredwoodcity.org… I think to fight back we need to take control of our economy into our own hands. Time to reevaluate how we get our Food, Water, Housing, Medical Care, and Education… So … I am working on a new model of housing.

Aaron, you’re right. The more we can get away from what we’ve been conditioned by society and the corporations to think we want/need, the better off we’ll be. Your little houses are a start.

I thought you might want to see this interview with Scott Olsen (Iraq war vet injured in Occupy Oakland police crack down). I found it heart wrenching, as his skull fracture resulted in brain trauma so he’s had to re-learn some aspects of his speech, and inspiring. What a hero, he’s still speaking out for what he believes in.

Calico, help me out here, would you? –San Bernardino, California, finally an Occupy movement sprung up a couple of days ago. The page of coverage they got in the local paper has prompted a slew of abuse in the “comments” section. Even after I posted a call for support of these protestors in a firedoglake.com diary, it seems that still no one wants to spend five minutes posting something supportive to refute all that abuse…and you KNOW those protestors will see the comments posted on the Sun, a public record and a real conversation. Yeah Louis. We can’t agree on everything, but we can compromise. No system is perfect.
Trying to take money away from big business is about as far away from Free Market Capitalism as you can get, bud. I have no problem with the occupy protesters except for a few things, they are NOT the 99%, they are NOT fighting for Capitalism, they’re fighting for Communism, and they do NOT have the right to say that everyone who disagrees with them is republican and watches Fox News. Case in point? Me.
