Why does Calico Blackie feel cheated?
I feel cheated because when the situation became intolerable for the Native Americans in this country, they invented The Ghost Dance in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to dance and pray their troubles away.
Their people and society had been almost destroyed by the greed and prejudice of the dominant culture.
They turned to mysticism in a profound hope for a better life.
They acted, and were crushed at Wounded Knee. At least they tried.
Today, we’re seeing much the same thing happening in our lower and middle class culture, only we aren’t trying to improve our situation, we’re trying to ignore it.
I feel cheated because our mantra has become rampant consumerism, and our “Ghost Dance” has become “Dances With The Stars.”
No pride, determination, or a desire for a better way. Nope.
Just greed and prancing beefcake and T&A on the television.
We’re doomed!

A deputy White House national security adviser said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton would depart for the Mideast on Tuesday from Cambodia, where she had accompanied Obama on a visit to Southeast Asia.

Why Wal-Mart workers are striking on Black Friday
The union-backed group OUR Walmart expects thousands of workers to participate. The employees will ask the country’s largest employer to end what they call retaliation against speaking out for better pay, fair schedules and affordable health care.
Such retaliation can include shuffling around their shifts, cutting hours and moving them around departments.
The stage has been set for a battle between a group of Wal-Mart workers and the retailer on Black Friday.
The union-backed group OUR Walmart expects thousands of workers to participate. The employees will ask the country’s largest employer to end what they call retaliation against speaking out for better pay, fair schedules and affordable health care.
It’s always “just a handful of protestors” that are the troublemakers
Such retaliation can include shuffling around their shifts, cutting hours and moving them around departments.
Wal-Mart says that the protestors make up just a handful of its 1.3 million workforce.
In an effort to stop them, Wal-Mart filed a complaint last week with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming that the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and its subsidiary known as OURWalmart unlawfully organized picket lines and other demonstrations in the past six months.
The retailer said the actions have disrupted business, and that workers’ ongoing actions violate the National Labor Relations Act, which prohibits picketing for any period over 30 days without filing a petition to form a union.

Why should what happens with Wal-Mart and it’s workers concern us?
It should concern us because it sure would be nice if a parasitic and predatory company could be forced by it’s workers to stop making the taxpayer foot the bill to provide food stamps and healthcare to their underpaid workers all so that the Walton family could become even more rich.
It sure would be nice if a predatory and parasitic company could be exposed for their unAmerican business practices of selling cheap Chinese made crap and putting American business owners and American workers out of a job.

This triggers heart attacks for the 1%, but the 1% hides behind lies and deception
Could unemployment woes be contributing to added heart risks for some Americans?
A new study from Duke University researchers finds older American workers who lost a job may be about 20 percent more likely to suffer a heart attack, a percentage that climbs as job losses mount.
The overall heart attack risk however remains small, but for some of those in the study who already were at risk because of an unhealthy habits, it may be enough to cause a heart attack .
“Any significant additional risk is important,” said Dr. Matthew Dupre, an assistant professor of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. and lead author of the study.

Management at Hostess Brands and leaders of the Bakery Workers union may agree on only one thing heading into mediation Tuesday — neither expected to be there.
The results of the mediation, scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday., will determine if the company and its 18,500 jobs can be saved.
If not, Tuesday’s session will prove to be only a slight detour on the way to liquidation
Hostess is on the brink of closure after years of losses and a strike started on Nov. 9 by the Bakery Workers, which represents 5,000 workers at the company.
The union insists that membership voted 90% against the concessions imposed on them by the company as part of its bankruptcy, concessions other workers agreed to accept.
The Bakery Workers union held the votes on the concessions during public meetings at union halls. But the Teamsters union let its 6,700 members vote using a secret ballot, and members voted 53% to accept the concessions.
Last week, as the company threatened liquidation, the Teamsters asked that the Bakery Workers hold a secret ballot vote on the concessions, in the hopes that the bakers might be more willing to accept management’s terms in private to avoid a shutdown.

It’s been nine grueling weeks since the all-star season began; perhaps the producers felt the need for a little levity in the competition.
How else to explain dances such as “Caveman Hustle,” “Espionage Lindy Hop” and “Big Top Jazz”?

Cheated because we don’t stand a chance if we don’t reject the bullshit we’re being fed by the 1% and their corporate media.
Cheated because I’m being caught up with the tide of bullshit and can’t seem to do a thing about it.
I’m riding the wave with the rest of the suckers that buy into the falsehood of the American Dream.
I feel cheated because in buying the lie, we’re screwing our own grandchildren out of a life and world that should be full of hope and joy, instead of leaving them with a life of poverty, 1% whoremasters and pollution.
Cheated because I can’t seem to do a God-Damned thing about it, when the rest of the world is Ghost Dancing with the Stars.
I feel cheated because our modern-day Ghost Dance is such a garish and trashy reflection of what we’ve allowed ourselves to become at the hands of our 1% pimps.
It’s nothing like the noble aspirations of the American Indian Ghost Dance Movement of the 1890′s.
Maybe that’s the way it was meant to be.
Ah well.
I’ll keep beating my head on the wall.
