Greetings to all you marvelous Occupiers out there!
The Occupy Movement showed the world yesterday that we are as strong as ever.
If this type of activity can occur in January, imagine what it will be like come the Spring.
We marched in Oakland, in Portland, in New York, In Washington, DC, in Auckland, NZ, in Canada, in Germany, and all across the world.
And more is planned for today.
Protest the corruption in government. Protest the GREED of the 1%. Protest corporate rule. Protest the censorship. Protest the pollution.
Fight for a better tomorrow!
So, what happened?
From CBS News
300 arrested in Occupy Oakland protests
“Saturday’s protests — the most turbulent since Oakland police forcefully dismantled an Occupy encampment in November — came just days after the group said it planned to use a vacant building as a social center and political hub and threatened to try to shut down the port, occupy the airport and take over City Hall.”
“An exasperated Mayor Jean Quan, who faced heavy criticism for the police action last fall, called on the Occupy movement to “stop using Oakland as its playground.”
“Protesters clashed with police throughout the day, at times throwing rocks, bottles and other objects at officers. And police responded by deploying smoke, tear gas and bean bag rounds, City Administrator Deanna Santanta said.”
“Quan blamed the destruction on a small “very radical, violent” splinter group within Occupy Oakland.”
Calico Blackie says:
That “small “very radical, violent” splinter group” is NOT a major part of the Occupy Movement.
They are The Black Bloc, which is a radical group composed mostly of young people who show up at every major protest around the world to cause damage.
AND, they have been infiltrated by the police who use them as an excuse to brutally put down any peaceful protest that threatens the 1% and their bought-off governments.
Every time they cause trouble at an otherwise peaceful protest, their actions are highlighted by the media as being the majority of the actual group of protesters, and many members of the general public are ignorant enough to buy the lies of the media and the police.
The story continues with:
“City Hall is closed for the weekend. There is no excuse for behavior we’ve witnessed this evening,” City Council President Larry Reid said during a news briefing Saturday.”
“Oakland Councilman Ignacio De La Fuente, echoed Reid’s sentiments and said that what was going on amounts to “domestic terrorism.”
Calico Blackie says:
So, it begins. Notice how quick Councilman Ignacio De La Fuente was to label ALL of the demonstrators as “domestic terrorists?”
That’s a direct result of the passage of NDAA in this country. We will be seeing more and more of this as times go by.
e very wary of this type of labeling.
It could land you in Gitmo if you so much as speak up for your rights.
From Fox “news”
“The crowd grew as the day wore on, with afternoon estimates ranging from about 1,000 to 2,000 people.”
“The protesters walked to the vacant convention center, where some started tearing down perimeter fencing and “destroying construction equipment” shortly before 3 p.m., police said.”
“Police said they issued a dispersal order and used smoke and tear gas after some protesters pelted them with bottles, rocks, burning flares and other objects.”
“Most of the arrests were made when protesters ignored orders to leave and assaulted officers, police said.”
“By 4 p.m., the bulk of the crowd had left the convention center and headed back downtown.”
Calico Blackie says:
Where is the footage of these acts of throwing flares and bottles and assaults on the police?
You know damn well that the police and FBI film every one of these protests.
Heck, they were doing it in the 60s during the Vietnam War protests. How come none of that footage has ever surfaced?
Could it be because they’re lying?
So, what else was going on with the Movement, and what was the reaction in other cities to the Occupy Oakland protest?
Occupy Portland protesters march in solidarity with Oakland
“Occupy Portland protesters are marching tonight around downtown and across the Hawthorne Bridge to show solidarity with Occupy Oakland protesters.
In Portland, protesters remained peaceful as they marched and chanted. Sgt. Pete Simpson, Portland police spokesman, said there had been no arrests yet.”
“A few dozen police officers, some in riot gears, are on stand by.”
From Occupy Wall Street
“The Occupy movement will respond, as we have always responded: with an overwhelming show of collective resistance. Today, we take to the streets. Across the country, we will demonstrate our resolve to overcome repression and continue to build a better world grounded in love and solidarity for one another.”

Protestors reclaim grassed area
“Occupy Auckland protestors have smashed down fences and once again reclaimed a grassed area of Aotea Square.”
“They were evicted from their makeshift campsite earlier this week. After a march from downtown Auckland, the more than a hundred protestors held a countdown, then sprinted to Aotea Square from Wellesley Street.”
“A few started attacking the fences and pushed them over, and that quickly escalated.”
“The fences are now bent and broken and the protestors are back on the site.
The handful of police present have not taken any action yet.”
In Washington DC:
Occupy DC protesters demonstrate outside VIP dinner
“Occupy DC protesters gathered to demonstrate Saturday outside the 99th annual Alfalfa Club dinner thrown for high-level dignitaries, including President Obama.”
“The protesters marched from one of their downtown Washington home bases to the nearby Capital Hilton hotel, where the dinner was held.”
“Marching through the streets, the demonstrators chanted “Whose streets? Our streets!” and “We are the 99%,” until they reached barricades outside of the hotel. Once at the barricades, protesters continued to chant and attempted to create a human blockade to hamper the guests from entering the dinner.”
“The Alfalfa Club is an organization comprised of Washington VIPs such as congressmen and business executives whom Occupy DC activists say personify the “1%” members of the movement have been rallying against since last year.”
“I am out here today dressed up as myself; middle-class, middle-aged PTA parent to show that the 99% includes regular people like me,” Occupy DC protester Eric Lotke told CNN. “What we need to do is start listening to the people, and if we listen to the people, they want the clean energy, they want the money out of politics, they want the health care, they want these things and they can’t get them because there’s a ruling class that wants things to be done differently.”
In other “news”…………..
Polls see Mitt Romney cruising to Florida victory
“Mitt Romney is headed for a decisive victory in Tuesday’s Florida primary, if two new statewide polls out Sunday are the least bit accurate.”
“Romney leads Newt Gingrich by margins of 11 percent and 15 percent in the surveys.”
“If he were to prevail by that advantage on Tuesday, it would represent an abrupt reversal of last weekend’s South Carolina vote, which Gingrich took by a double-digit score.”
Calico Blackie says:
That is, if you even bother to go to the polls.
Good Lord people! Is it possible to ignore any longer that all of this stupidity is part of a terminal stage of a great culture and that we are being crushed by the 1% through the rendering of the masses intellectually impotent?
They’ve accomplished this goal by using the media and their paid-for politicians who have been numbing our minds now for decades.
WE MUST RISE UP, FOR TRULY WE CANNOT AFFORD TO SINK LOWER.
Our society, for the most part, is not even aware of their degradation. Instead of speaking up against what is happening, the majority of people in this country prefer to roar and demand that every one of their fellow citizens accept the same degree of degradation, thus making all of us equal in our new-found slavery.
It’s easier to turn on the TV to watch American Idol than it is to demand a government free of corruption and an end to the police state.
It’s easier to accept being degraded.
Do you realize that many Americans wouldn’t even care if the government declared martial law, as long as they still were able to watch the Super Bowl and their other favorite shows?
That’s what we’ve become.
THAT’S WHY WE MUST OCCUPY. We must resist this degradation that will eventually turn us all into obedient and docile slaves for the 1%.
WE MUST SUCCEED.
That is all.
We are the 99%
