Greetings from Calico Blackie!
May Day has come and gone and now we need to plan our next moves.
More questions than answers.
What was accomplished?
What still needs to be done?
CAN WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
I don’t know.
We’ll see.
From MSNBC:
Protesters hit streets for May Day rallies; violence flares in Oakland, Seattle
“Protesters across the world marched through the streets Tuesday toting signs, playing instruments and wearing costumes to rally against austerity measures, call for more jobs and seek greater immigrants’ rights on May Day.”

Oakland Police showing "We the People" who's boss with their OPD armored car. Why is our government so afraid of it's citizens?
“Marches turned violent in Oakland and San Francisco, where a protester was throwing what appeared to be bricks and metal rods from the roof of a building into the crowd of demonstrators, reporters, and police – injuring at least one person.”
“In Seattle, protesters dressed in black smashed windows and police pepper-sprayed some in the crowds.”
“In the United States, the protests are seen as the biggest test for the Occupy movement since many of its camps were shuttered late last year.”
“It was a long, energetic day with scores and scores of events and protests that is another step in building a movement for economic justice,” said Bill Dobbs of the Occupy Wall Street public relations team. “Occupy has re-blossomed in over 100 cities.”
From occupysf:
“In a pre-dawn raid by the SFPD and S.F. Sheriff’s Department, the S.F. Commune was evicted from 888 Turk St. after being briefly re-occupied following a May Day General Strike march to the site the previous afternoon.”
“After waiting for the cover of darkness to act, police officers and deputy sheriffs entered the formerly vacant building, owned by the S.F. Archdiocese, to make twenty-four arrests of the sleeping Occupiers within and were transported to 850 Bryant St.”

Calico Blackie says:
Once again, the police at the bidding of their masters, responded with overwhelming force against the wishes of the people who want an end to corruption and greed.

Oakland Police responding with assault rifles loaded with LIVE AMMUNITION. Do you think they would have used them on "We the People" if they were ordered to shoot?
In Oakland, the cops were seen carrying M-4 assault rifles and cruising around in their armored cars. What chance do you think a citizen would have against them?
In Seattle….
From The Seattle Times:
“Spasms of violence hijacked attention from mostly peaceful May Day social-justice rallies Tuesday as black-clad vandals left downtown Seattle littered with shattered glass and put police — and the city — on edge.”
“The vandalism, much of it aimed at financial institutions, recalled for many Seattleites the 1999 World Trade Organization (WTO) riots. Mayor Mike McGinn, citing lessons learned from that chaos, issued an emergency order giving police power to preventively seize anything that could be used as a weapon.”
“The order, imposed after a noontime vandalism spree by about 75 apparent anarchists armed with poles, contributed to arrests and later clashes between police and protesters.”
“But after the initial violence and full mobilization of police, much of the mayhem died down. Planned afternoon marches were mostly peaceful, although downtown traffic was tangled.”

Some would call this "collateral damage" done to a peaceful protester by the police. Others would call it a "Red Badge of Courage" worn by a Patriot
And in the cities of Portland, Denver, Miami, Chicago, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and throughout the nation, demonstrations were held and arrests were made.
Citizens were injured for demanding their rights.
For demanding “Liberty and Justice For All.”
Get it straight people.
YOU ONLY HAVE RIGHTS WHEN IT’S CONVENIENT FOR THE 1% TO LET YOU HAVE THEM.
If it’s not convenient, those rights are taken away from you.
Remember……many citizens are fine with this.

You have the right to defend yourself. Unless you're trying to stop a cop from bashing your skull. Then, it's "assault on a police officer." A FELONY
They can look at this picture and say:
“She deserves what she’s getting. If she had stayed home and didn’t get out to protest, she would never have gotten her ass beaten.”
Calico Blackie says:
She’s in the front lines fighting for YOU.
The people who say she “deserves it” are the same people who will sit in their houses while their neighbors get hauled away to the prison camps and say nothing.
They’ll say nothing because they feel safe and secure.
They’ll say nothing, until the “knock on the door” is for them.
By then, it will be too late.
So, with newer and harsher laws getting passed every day by the puppets in government, how much longer will it be before the patriots are all locked away in the prison industrial complex?
How much longer before protesters are arrested and never heard from again?
Keep in mind that many cities are now beginning to charge protesters with felonies.
In a state with a 3-strikes law, this means if you get caught fighting for your rights three times, you go to jail FOR LIFE.
YOU get to be a slave laborer for the profit machine, FOREVER.
WELCOME TO AMERICA!

Two more "resisting arrest" charges and you'll never see her again. The cops are "only following orders"
So, why protest?
Why not campaign for a “progressive” candidate and “fight the system from the inside” instead of getting your butt kicked and arrested?
Yeah….Why not?
Why not campaign for a bought-off candidate and try to change a rigged system from the inside where you can’t make any difference at all?
Heck, if you’re against prostitution, why not take a job in a brothel and spend your spare time telling the hookers that what they’re doing is wrong?
But hell, why should the 1% give a damn about us?
From CNN:
Dow closes at a 4-year high

Come along, Vietnam Veteran. What are you protesting for? Our 401k's are doing well (until the 1% decides to take that too)
“U.S. stocks moved solidly higher Tuesday as investors welcomed a rise in U.S. manufacturing activity and a mixed batch of corporate earnings.”
“The Dow Jones industrial average rose 66 points, or 0.5%, to close at 13,279.40, the highest since December 2007.”
“The day’s gains were broad, with more than 70% of the Dow’s 30 components ending in positive territory.”
“Countering signs that the U.S. economic recovery may be slowing, investors were encouraged by a report that showed manufacturing activity grew last month at the fastest pace since June 2011.”

Calico Blackie says:
I feel better already knowing the rich got richer and that manufacturing activity grew because people had to work like hell for poverty-level wages. And it’s all so that some bastard can bank another huge bonus.
The 1% will never give a damn about us.
We can protest and scream to the heavens and they don’t seem to be listening.
They don’t care, because there are millions of us willing to kiss their asses for a pat on the head.
Millions of us who are willing to “only follow orders” no matter where those orders lead to.
Millions of divided, complacent and easily exploited people.
So….What can we do when no matter how large our demonstrations, no matter how reasonable our concerns, no matter how peacefully we voice our disapproval, we’re beaten down, jailed and/or ignored?
What can we do when we are only given the illusion of choice when we vote?
It’s a steamroller that WILL eventually crush us all.
The 1% doesn’t care if it takes 10 years for us to get tired of protesting and finally accept the whip.
They don’t care if they have to lock us all up in their for-profit prisons. As a matter of fact, they would prefer to lock us up in their labor camps.
What can we do?
Not much, when all our protests seem to be accomplishing is letting the authorities know who we are so that it’s easier for them to find us when it’s roundup time.
But still…… We have to use what we’ve got. Just because May Day has been seen by the Occupy Movement as a great success doesn’t mean it’s now “Miller Time.”
We can’t let up.
If May Day was a spark, we’ve got to fan the flames. Our ONLY chance is to mobilize enough VOCAL support from millions of people so that we can’t be ignored.
So..……….. CAN WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Yes, but…….
We’ve got to convert the doubters.
When you hear someone talking about “dirty hippie occupiers” or saying “those protesters don’t represent me”……..SPEAK UP!
It’s our only chance.
Keep the faith, Occupiers
