Cute Cartoons and Cute Newscasters
on November 22, 2011 at 12:24 pmGreetings From The Klamath River in Rural America!
Thought I’d start out with a cute little cartoon today to start my column. QUESTION: Can you guess the artist?
ANSWER: Adolph Hitler
Ok. Enough shenanigans. Let’s dive right in……..
From The Contra Costa Times
Occupy campers pitch tents at new site in West Oakland
A day after police cleared the last of three Occupy Oakland camps, another popped up overnight, this time in West Oakland on a property that is reportedly in foreclosure.
Protesters with 10 tents, awnings and camping gear put down stakes at about 7 p.m. Monday night on a large lot adjoining a home at the corner of 18th and Linden Streets.
The idea for locating on a foreclosed site had been kicked around in Occupy Oakland general assembly meetings, he said. Camp members say they have permission from the property owner to stay there. They say the strategy will keep police from clearing the camp.

DEVELOPING: UCLA students to occupy Bruin Plaza all night to protest tuition hikes & police force against UC & Cal State demonstrators
From CBS:
Students have again put up tents near the site where University of California, Davis police used pepper spray on seated protesters in a conflict that has sparked outrage and calls for the school chancellor’s resignation.
The encampment was again erected Monday, hours after the campus police chief was put on administrative leave and the chancellor was shouted down at a demonstration while trying to apologize for the incident that happened at a protest held Friday in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Two officers also were placed on administrative leave after the students were sprayed.
Egypt: From The Washington Post
Egypt’s embattled military leadership has promised to hand over power to a civilian government no later than July 1, 2012, the state news agency MENA reported Tuesday — a full year earlier than expected.
The pledge — announced by presidential hopeful Mohammed Salim al-Awaa after a meeting with the ruling generals — marks the biggest concession by the military leadership since anti-government protests began this weekend, mushrooming into a national revolt.
From hatemonger Bill O’Reilly and his lapdog Megyn Kelly:
“Pepper spray, that just burns your eyes, right?” O’Reilly asked Kelly.
“Right,” Kelly said. “I mean, it’s like a derivative of actual pepper.”
“It’s a food product, essentially.”
Calico Blackie says:
Exactly! Like jalapeno poppers, or queso dip.
Delicious.
In fact, pepper spray is about 1,000 times hotter than a jalapeno.
Hate monger O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly continue:
“But wait a minute, O’Reilly said. “We don’t have the right to Monday morning quarterback the police,” he said.
“Especially at a place like UC Davis, which is a fairly liberal campus.” The police were acting on the chancellor’s orders, the hosts agreed, to try and clear the “Occupy” protesters’ encampment.
Kelly asserted that the cops probably didn’t act outside the law.”
Calico Blackie says:
Uh, Bill…..
In case you forgot….
This is THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, we have every right to to be concerned regarding police brutality.
Don’t you DARE try to tell us what our rights are!
From The BBC:
Pepper spray: US campus police chief suspended
The move to place campus police chief Annette Spicuzza on administrative leave was a “necessary step to restoring trust on our campus.”
The protests at UC Davis were held in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement, which began in New York more than two months ago to highlight perceived corporate greed and economic inequality.

Calico Blackie says:
The OWS movement is doing what German citizens SHOULD have done in 1930′s Germany.
Coincidentally, cops like Lt. Pike at UC Davis, Sgt. Jeff McDaniel of Portland, and the Seattle and NYPD cops who also used pepper spray point blank were “just following orders”.
Sound familiar?
What else is going on?
Steven J. Baum P.C., Law Firm That Hosted Foreclosure Costume Party To Lay Off One-Third Of Employees
An embattled New York foreclosure law firm that was criticized for a Halloween party that mocked the homeless and was recently shunned by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will close. A statement issued Monday originally said Steven J. Baum P.C. filed notice of mass layoffs with state labor officials but did not mention closing.
Firm spokesman Earl Wells confirms it will shut down completely. In a statement, Baum says the firm will fulfill its remaining work. Its practices are being investigated by the New York attorney general.
Also in the “news”:
Newt Gingrich: Child Labor Laws Are ‘Stupid’
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich called child labor laws “stupid” Friday in an appearance at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
“It is tragic what we do in the poorest neighborhoods, entrapping children in, first of all, child laws, which are truly stupid,” said the former House speaker.
“Most of these schools ought to get rid of the unionized janitors, have one master janitor and pay local students to take care of the school.”
“The kids would actually do work, they would have cash, they would have pride in the schools, they’d begin the process of rising.”
Newt goes on to say:
“You’re going to see from me extraordinarily radical proposals to fundamentally change the culture of poverty in America,” he added.
Calico Blackie says:
I’m at a loss.
All I can say is “What an IDIOT.”
Oh yes, this was also in the news today:
From CNN:
Economy grew at 2 percent rate in third quarter
The U.S. economy grew more slowly over the summer than the government had earlier estimated because businesses cut back more sharply on restocking of shelves.
Calico Blackie says:
GREW?
The article continues:
The downward revision was largely because weaker data on inventory building came in after the government’s first estimate. Many businesses reduced their stockpiles over the summer, probably because they didn’t anticipate the strength consumer and business spending.
Calico Blackie says:
I’m trying to decide if the above paragraph was doublespeak, or horrible editing.
The article continues:
“For now the U.S. economy looks to be moving in the right direction,” said Paul Ashworth, chief U.S. economist at Capital Economics, who predicts growth of more than 3 percent in the fourth quarter.
Economists at JPMorgan Chase & Co., are now predicting growth of 3 percent this quarter, up from an earlier estimate of 2.5 percent growth.
Calico Blackie says:
Oh, I get it now. JP Morgas Chase said it, so it’s just a lot of vapor.

Thousands line up for Los Angeles Turkey Giveaway
Jackson Limousine Service is handing out thousands of turkeys for its annual dinner giveaway in South Los Angeles.
YEP, THE ECONOMY IS GROWING!
How much longer are we expected to believe these lies?
From Yahoo News and MSNBC:

Luke Gates, a student at Indiana University from Bloomington, Ind., Gregory Porter, a student at Drexel University from Glenside, Pa., and Derrik Sweeney, a student at Georgetown University from Jefferson City, Mo., are being held at the Abdeen police station in Cairo, reported NBC.

The OCCUPIED Amendment both overturns the Citizens United Supreme Court decision that wrongly awarded the Constitutionally-protected free speech rights of people to corporations and totally bans corporate money from America’s electoral process.
