We’re still holding on out here in middle of nowhere, but we don’t know for how much longer.
Scraping the rent together when everything else is so costly gets harder every day.
The prices for everything have gone through the roof, just so that the corporations can show and ever-increasing maximum profit and their CEO’s can get their fat bonuses.
Food, auto insurance, gas, utilities and everything else takes its toll. Never mind the luxuries. They’re almost all gone.
No cable or satellite or anything new or extra, except the internet. That’s the one thing I will hang on to until I’m living in a tent by the river.
Yet, there’s still jackasses out there that would begrudge me even that. Screw ‘em. When and if peaceful change or a revolution ever comes, there will be scores to settle.
Someone posted this on Facebook today and asked people to sign the petition:
Support the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012
“Total outstanding student loan debt in America is expected to exceed $1 TRILLION this year.”
“Millions of hardworking, taxpaying, educated Americans are being crushed under the weight of their educational debts, while the economy continues to sputter. Support a REAL economic stimulus and jobs plan. Support the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012 (H.R. 4170).”

So, what was the reaction of the sleeping jackasses on facebook?
This comment led off the idiot-fest:
“I’ll sign when they bring forward a Mortgage Forgiveness Act…or a Car Payment Forgiveness Act. We all make financial choices in our lives-it’s our responsibility to follow through with those decisions.”
And it all went downhill from there. “It’s all about personal responsibility” was the theme. No-one bothered to think their responses through.
No-one mentioned the cost of a college education these days.
No-one mentioned that only the rich can afford to get a college education in this country without mortgaging their future and becoming indentured to the bankers.
No-one mentioned that you need a college education these days to get almost any type of job at all.
No-one mentioned that maybe many of us might not have the scholastic aptitude to become engineers or some other “useful” (to the 1%) field, yet we’re still told to get our degrees.
No-one mentioned that in order for CULTURE to survive, we need artists, musicians, poets, astronomers, thinkers, and dissenters who march to a different drummer. Imagine if Carl Sagan had “majored in something useful” such as manufacturing engineering?
No-one mentioned that all the jobs traditionally held by non-college graduates in this country have been offshored to China and the 3rd world.
No-one mentioned the fact that the bank bailouts cost more than the entire student loan debt in this country.
No-one mentioned that we live in a country where the banks and corporations are too big to fail, while we, the people have become too little to matter.
No-one mentioned the fact that if you keep a large enough segment of the population dissatisfied with their lot for long enough, there will be blood.
Nope.
We live in the greatest country in the world!
MY ASS.
I would agree that we are all personally responsible for our actions and our decisions, but what is your first reaction when you realize you’ve been suckered?
“I was ROBBED.”
Those facebook idiots were all over the personal responsibility aspect of it.
Ask any of them about it and you will find most of them to be retirees who now live in a dream world of “I was responsible.”
“I made the right decisions. I was smarter than you.”
“I was useful to my employers and society.”
The key word is WAS.
You were useful.
Now, you’re just a waste of the earths valuable resources, sitting at home on your retired butt letting Rush and Hannity do your thinking for you.
How much longer do you think we can screw our young people by having these types of “I got mine” and “personal responsibility” attitudes before the elderly are seen as a liability instead of a knowledgeable asset?
How much longer before YOUR retirement savings, pensions and social security are taken away because it’s seen as a waste of money that could be better spent on the young and useful members of society?
How much longer before the 1% begins to play on this resentment and pits the young against the old?
It’s already happening.
That’s why we MUST all work together to fight the 1% for all of our futures.
Young and old. Black and white. Male and female. ALL OF US. TURN OFF YOUR TV, UNITE AND FIGHT!
It’s time to take back our country for ALL of us.
LOOK AT WHAT’S HAPPENING WHILE YOU SIT ON YOUR BUTTS WATCHING DANCES WITH THE STARS:
From wired.com
FBI Taught Agents They Could ‘Bend or Suspend the Law’
“The FBI taught its agents that they could sometimes “bend or suspend the law” in their hunt for terrorists and criminals.”
“Other FBI instructional material, discovered during a months-long review of FBI counterterrorism training, warned agents against shaking hands with “Asians” and said Arabs were prone to “Jekyll & Hyde temper tantrums.”
“These are just some of the disturbing results of the FBI’s six-month review into how the Bureau trained its counterterrorism agents. That review, now complete, did not result in a single disciplinary action for any instructor.”
“This is not an effective way to protect the United States,” Sen. Richard Durbin, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee overseeing the FBI, tells Danger Room about the inappropriate FBI counterterrorism training. “It’s stunning that these things could be said to members of our FBI in training. It will not make them more effective in their work and won’t make America safer.”

Greatest country in the world? We’re letting this happen.
So, what can we do? Here’s something we can do…….
From Occupy Wall Street
March in support of the NDAA Lawsuit TOMORROW
“On Thursday the 29th, the first round of plaintiffs, dubbed the Freedom Seven, will testify in front of a federal judge. We must show solidarity, and we must show our discontent with an authoritarian piece of legislation that destroys our civil liberties. JOIN THE PEOPLE AND MARCH FOR FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FROM FOLEY SQUARE TO UNION SQUARE!”

Meanwhile, we’re being bombarded with the 1% and their politicians and media stooges fighting us and keeping us divided.
Have you seen this?
From CNN
Vagina enters stage left — or is it right?
“The vagina has become so real, so present, so powerful that people are going after it directly,” she said. “It’s evidence that we’re winning.”
“America is abuzz about women’s issues.”
“The Republican Party, which has long fought big government in favor of privatization, has turned to regulating women’s private parts — or at least that’s how many on the left see it.”

It’s all a smokescreen that is designed to keep us fighting amongst ourselves. This time, it’s staged by the GOP. Don’t fall for it. Stay united.
Then, there’s this…….
From CNN
Gas tops $3.90 a gallon
“The price of an average gallon of regular gas surpassed the $3.90 mark Wednesday, moving to within a dime of the $4 threshold.”
“The average price rose 1.3 cents to $3.911 in the latest daily survey conducted for the motorist group AAA. The price has risen for 19 consecutive days.”

Calico Blackie says:
Once again, it’s bullshit. The Democrats will blame the Republicans. The Republicans will blame the Democrats. The oil companies will post yet another RECORD PROFIT.
And we will be the ones paying for it. How much more will we take? How much longer will we allow ourselves to be hoodwinked into thinking it’s ALL about OUR personal responsibility and not at all about the responsibility of our elected officials?
But that’s ok, sheep…..LOOK!
From The Daily Mail
Reese Witherspoon pours her curves into a VERY low cut corset at Hollywood film premier
“She is not usually known for stepping out in very revealing costumes, but Reese Witherspoon managed to steal the red carpet show with her outfit tonight.”
“The 35-year-old actress poured her curves into a stunning low cut corset, adorned with gold and silver metal work.”
“She teamed the tightly-fitting top with a more demure black skirt as she posed at the premiere of her new comedy movie This Means War.”
Calico Blackie says:
Nice to look at, but does anybody look at this picture and wonder:
“I wonder what she’s thinking?”
Nope. She is an object in the picture, not a person. Culture change and education is our only hope.
Anyway….Here in rural America, life is very hard. How is it in the big cities, I wonder? I was reading accounts from the Great Depression yesterday and came across this. It sounds exactly like life in rural America today:
“When the Great Depression hit, like so many other families in our small town of East Palestine, Ohio, we had no food left in the house to feed our family.”
“My mother told my father: ‘Tomorrow, you must go to the relief office (welfare) and see if we can get some food to feed the family’ (of nine children).”
“Dad, with so much pride, said he could not go. So, the next morning my mother went and applied for food.”
“With the last $2, my father started out early the next morning on foot to one of the surrounding farms. He found a farmer that sold him 10 bushels of potatoes. The welfare gave us corned beef in cans and corn meal, and sometimes oranges.
My mother made polenta and put tomato sauce on the polenta. When she could, if we had a dime, we bought 10 cents worth of ground meat to put in the potato soup. We were lucky to have potato soup! A dish I have never made to this day.”
- Eleanor Ungaro Carpenter, age 89, East Palestine

Calico Blackie says:
Different times. Today, the sleeping jackasses on facebook would say that Ms. Carpenter’s father didn’t have enough personal responsibility.
That he made poor decisions in life. That he shouldn’t have had all those children.
Blah, blah, blah…..It’s like being in a public restroom at a Taco Bell and being forced to listen to a myriad of explosive farts.
Disgusting, you say? Well, the way are being screwed by the 1% and their wholly owned subsidiary in Washington, DC is even more disgusting. Where they’re leading us is even more disgusting.
The greatest country in the world? If you’re the type of ignorant asshole who will tell me to move to Cuba, please see “Who is Calico Blackie” on this webpage.
It’s all of our PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY to put an end to the fascist corporatocracy that has taken over our country and most of the world.

Look at those dirty hippies waiting for a free handout. They have no personal responsibility. GET A JOB
Do you know what finally pulled the United States and the world out of the Great Depression?
A World War.
Now, they’re trying ever so hard to convince us to go to war with Iran. The people don’t want war. WE DON’T WANT WAR.
Not for profit.
NOT FOR OIL.
NOT FOR THE 1%.
Our personal responsibility in this country is to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY FROM THE 1%.
Keep the faith, Occupiers.
Fight fascism.
OCCUPY WALL STREET
UNITE AND STAY UNITED.
Let’s take ‘em down
