Jobless claims at 3.5 year low, factories mixed

(Reuters) – The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits dropped to a 3-1/2-year low last week, suggesting a weak U.S. economy is gradually improving even though factory data proved more mixed.

Census Shows 1 in 2 People Are Poor or Low-Income

Squeezed by rising living costs, a record number of Americans — nearly 1 in 2 — have fallen into poverty or are scraping by on earnings that classify them as low income.

The latest census data depict a middle class that’s shrinking, as unemployment stays high and the government’s safety net frays.

Can you hear us now?

The new numbers follow years of stagnating wages for the middle class that have hurt millions of workers and families.

“Safety net programs such as food stamps and tax credits kept poverty from rising even higher in 2010, but for many low-income families with work-related and medical expenses, they are considered too ‘rich’ to qualify,” said Sheldon Danziger, a University of Michigan public policy professor who specializes in poverty.

“The reality is that prospects for the poor and the near poor are dismal,” he said. “If Congress and the states make further cuts, we can expect the number of poor and low-income families to rise for the next several years.”

What kind of bullshit is this?

If you need a safety net in this country, it’s called POVERTY. One in two people? You’re darned right our prospects are dismal.

But, don't worry. Our government has always looked after us!

think Wall Street and their wholly-owned subsidiary in Washington DC doesn’t even give a damn if we believe their propaganda anymore.

They just keep spouting the same lines like a bad recording.

Andrea Jung And The Restless: Avon Replacing Longtime CEO

Andrea Jung, the longest serving female CEO at a major American corporation, will soon be out of a job. It was announced late Tuesday that Avon Products is launching an executive search to replace its 12-year-running chief. Once found, Jung will step aside.

The market reacted well in after-hours trading yesterday, shares rising 5%.

Here’s my only experience with Avon, so take it for what it’s worth. 

KISS MY ASS, AVON

Many years ago my mother used to buy the occasional product from Avon, always from the same Avon Lady she had been buying products from for years.

I never thought much about it, after all, it wasn’t my money.

Then, old mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and progressively got worse as the years went by, until one day, she couldn’t take care of herself and I had to get her into a care facility which specialized in care for these types of patients.

When we cleaned out the old house, we found the closets filled with various Avon products. Turns out, her “friend,” the Avon lady had been preying on her, fully aware that she was conning an old, mentally unbalanced lady out of her savings to make a profit for herself.

Why the long story? Because it is indicative of how some people think. How a banker or crooked CEO thinks.

How someone even as innocent as an Avon Lady might think. There’s no hate or malice about it.

Sharks and lions don’t kill because of hate. You’re just prey to be devoured for their enrichment and their greed can never be satisfied. This way of thinking goes against all principals of humanity. Against all laws of morality.

What does that tell you?

That’s why they have got to be defeated by we, the people. We, the 99% are NOT prey. We are people.

WE ARE PEOPLE!

It’s sad how easy it is for some people to sell out their fellow human beings.

Their money usually comes to them by exploiting the vulnerable.

On that note:

He should be fired and prosecuted for assault.

Make an example of him to show our police around the country what can happen to them if they use brutality on citizens.
