WHAT MATTERS?

Greetings from Calico Blackie!.

It’s a rainy day outside and I’m feeling kind of introspective. My big dog (Autie) just turned 12 and I’m thinking about my old dog (Tojo).  When it’s all said and done….

Does it really matter?

Anyway, here’s a poem I wrote for him:

They say there’s a place we go when we are through-
If we’ve done well, we get our due-
Well I don’t know if it’s all true-
But here’s what I would want to do…..

I would find a place in the country hills-
No worries-
No woes-
No frigging bills…….

Michele and I would sit on a log by the creek-
Among the tall grass-
No need to speak….

We would spread a picnic by that log that was fit for a king-
And I’d look at her finger-
My mothers ring…….

Soon, along would come those we wished to see-
All old friends and family-
We would laugh and talk and speak of days-
That were missed when we realized they were yesterdays…..

All the things we meant to say-
But never had the time…….

Then we would race around in those fields of flowers-
And run and play and have fun for hours-
And when we came back to our picnic log-
We would find Autie and our Tojo Dog, both Akitas……..

Yes, they had some of that picnic too….
They’re good dogs-
So it was their due…….

And after we had all napped in the cool cool breeze-
We would leave our creek-
Under the trees…….

We would walk together down that country lane-
No deadlines-
No worries-
No friggin pain…..

We would tread the road beneath our feet-
With Tojo and Autie-

Wouldn’t that be sweet?

I must admit I was surprised by this email and the fact that The Huffington Post staff would be so blatantly in favor of more government control over “We, the People”.

After giving it some thought, this was my reply to the editors over at HuffPo:

Hello,

I’m afraid this probably isn’t what you were looking for.

Twice in my life, guns have saved me. Once in self defense against burglars and once in defense of my cattle against a pack of wild dogs. I am 57 years old and by the time you and the State have dismantled the Constitution and condemned us to an Orwellian nightmare where it is thought that only the State should be allowed to own firearms and have freedom of speech, I’ll be dead.

Don’t you understand this?

So, do what you will.

It is sad that we’ve become a nation so easily swayed by the media and their corporate masters on Wall Street.

It’s sad that we’ve become a nation that’s more afraid of it’s own citizens than we are of our rights being taken away one by one.

It’s sad that we think government CONTROL is the norm now, and the way it should be.

Shouldn’t we be more worried about drone control, Gitmo, The Military Industrial Complex, The Prison Industrial Complex and the continuing loss of our rights than we are about gun control being imposed on the law abiding citizens of our country?

We discovered just how much our right to free speech and the right to protest meant to the government.

Now, they’re trying to “backdoor” us by gutting the 2nd Amendment and using that as a precedent to take away what little we have left of our civil liberties.

They know damn well that criminals and gangs will not surrender their guns and that any gun control laws enacted will only affect law-abiding citizens.

They know damn well that any extra “fees” imposed on the sale of permits, licenses, ammunition, and firearms will only be a thinly veiled tax on the citizenry.

They know damn well it won’t make us any safer.

YOU HAD BETTER DAMN WELL CARE BECAUSE WALL STREET AND WASHINGTON, DC DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU & ME

Look at NDAA and The Patriot Act.

Why is this even an issue?

It’s an issue because Wall Street and their wholly-owned subsidiary in Washington, DC want more control over the masses and they are using the corporate media to convince us that it’s for “public safety”.

Do you remember the main reason used by the government to put an end to the “Occupy” protests?

PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY.

And most people fell for it. The will of the people was crushed and today, it’s business as usual on Wall Street and up on Capitol Hill.

Why is it that some of the very same people that protested against corruption in government and against Wall Street greed and the loss of our rights are feeding the hand that bites us by saying: “UNCLE SAM, PLEASE DISMANTLE THE CONSTITUTION”?

Broke and ashamed: Many won’t take handouts despite need

“See kids? Asking for help is BAD!”

Ashyle Horton had volunteered in the past for the program that runs the University of Arkansas campus food pantry, but showing up as a client was an entirely different experience.

“I was very fearful and nervous,” said Horton, 22. “It felt so weird going to a food pantry to get help.”

The graduating senior says she desperately needed the pasta, rice and other staples on the food bank shelves, but she worried that others might judge her, that they would think she ought to be able to get by on her own.

“I never thought that I would be struggling as much as I have this year,” said Horton, whose already-stretched income dropped abruptly when her hours were cut at the disability services agency where she works.

Suddenly, she found herself among the 50 million people in the U.S. who live in food-insecure households each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Pushing past the stigma of need was a hurdle for Horton — as it is for many who find themselves in that situation, says Angela Oxford, director for the Fayetteville school’s Center for Community Engagement.

But, don’t worry about poverty or having enough to eat. Don’t worry about the destruction of our planet in the name of profit. THE FAGGOTS ARE COMING AND THEY’RE GOING TO TAKE AWAY OUR GUNZ!

“There is a stigma in that people just want to be able to take care of themselves,” Oxford said. “People don’t want to have to get assistance.”

Across the U.S., safety-net programs aimed at reaching the nearly 1 in 7 Americans living in poverty struggle to reach those in need. Food stamp enrollment climbed to record levels following the recent recession, with nearly 48 million participants in December 2012. 

Still, 1 in 4 people who are eligible for food stamps don’t sign up, on average, the USDA says. Participation drops sharply in certain subgroups, as well. Only 34 percent of seniors and 60 percent of working poor households who could receive food stamps actually do, the USDA says.

That’s largely because of the perceived shame of taking a hand-out, researchers say.

“Stigma seems to be a big barrier to participation,” said Colleen Flaherty Manchester, an assistant professor of management at the University of Minnesota who studies the issue. “We find it to be quite substantial.”

Don’t worry. Gabby Giffords will protect us with HER GUN and feed us!

In fact, psychological barriers appear to be three times greater than time costs — the effort and hassle it takes to enroll — in determining whether people seek benefits, Manchester said.

“I think it has to do with feelings of reduced self-efficacy, reduced self-esteem, psychological pressure from going against the social norm,” she said.

For Ashyle Horton, her need for the food pantry may end with graduation this spring. She has applied for City Year, a national service program, and she hopes to pursue a master’s degree after that. But her months of accepting pasta and rice from the pantry have given her more empathy for others in that situation, she says.

“I don’t like to tell people when I’m in need,” she said. “I like to help other people.”

But, hey…What Michael and Gwyneth say and do really matters. Doesn’t it?

Another weekend down and spent cutting firewood.

Since I still have all my fingers and toes, I guess the weekend was a success. 

The news has been buzzing with a combination of bullshit that doesn’t matter, and other crap that is worded so skillfully that we barely notice it as it flies by on our TV and computer screens.

The usual stuff. North Korea. The Middle East. Africa in turmoil. Pakistan and India still hating each other while the Sikhs sit back quietly amused by it all….

I see Michael Moore said “90% of all guns in America are owned by scared white people” and Gwyneth Paltrow’s list of “must haves” for Spring tops $458,000 for “essential items”.

458k would buy a lot of Stihl and Husqvarna chainsaws (spring AND winter essentials) out here!

It doesn’t look as if Gwyneth Paltrow needs much in the way of “spring essentials” here!

Gwyneth Paltrow manages to captivate large swaths of the population by telling them how to eat, dress and cleanse their colons.

The Goop editor was back at it this week with her “Annual Spring Edit” — a list of essential style items for the season.

I would LOVE to get them both up here on the Klamath River for a year of cutting firewood and scraping by, and let’s see if ol’ Mike won’t have a gun the first time he sees a bear or a mountain lion in his yard carrying off his dog or kitty.

Let’s see if Gwynneth won’t reconsider her “spring price tag” down to about $800.00 for a new chainsaw and enough money to buy shelter, food and fuel.

Hell, most of those Hollywood types wouldn’t last a week out here.

But, just like “our” politicians, they’ve all either sold out, or have lost touch with reality.

Keystone XL picks up Senate backing

Who cares about oil companies raping the land when we can see pictures of white smoke rising above the crematorium at Auschwitz. OOPS….I meant white smoke above the Vatican!

The Senate on Friday voted 62-37 to approve the proposed Keystone XL oil sands pipeline in an amendment to Senate budget.

Sen. John Hoeven’s (R-N.D.) amendment was largely symbolic, but served as a clear statement that the Senate backs the pipeline.

“It puts the Senate on record in support of the Keystone pipeline project. And that’s just appropriate,” Hoeven said.

“The Department of State has done four environmental impact statements over the last five years — four — and said there are no significant environmental impacts. And it’s time that we in the Senate stepped up with the American people.”

Who cares about oil companies destroying the earth when we can look at bikini pictures of Gwyneth Paltrow and take her $458k advice on spring colon cleansing?

All Republicans voted in favor. The Democrats who supported the measure were Sens. Max Baucus (Mont.), Mark Begich (Alaska), Michael Bennet (Colo.), Tom Carper (Del.), Bob Casey (Pa.), Chris Coons (Del.), Joe Donnelly (Ind.), Kay Hagan (N.C.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Tim Johnson (S.D.), Mary Landrieu (La.), Joe Manchin (W. Va.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Bill Nelson (Fla.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), Jon Tester (Mont.) and Mark Warner (Va.).

Hoeven has proposed separate legislation that would bypass President Obama’s authority to decide the Canada-to-Texas pipeline’s fate. The White House has the final say because the project crosses an international border.

Who cares what WE want?

While that bill sits in the hopper, Hoeven’s budget amendment Friday kept up the drumbeat on Keystone.

GOP lawmakers have made much noise about the pipeline. In meetings with Obama last week, House and Senate Republicans pressed the president for a timeline on his decision — about which Obama was vague.

They, along with some unions and industry groups, say the pipeline would create jobs. They also tout the benefits of getting oil from Canada, an ally.

Obama has been noncommittal on Keystone. According to some Senate Republicans present at last week’s confab, the president said his decision would come by year’s end.

On top of that, the president told the GOP their claims about Keystone’s job creation prospects were exaggerated. He also suggested a good amount of the oil sands were destined for export.

Egads! For once I actually agree with her!

To that end, the Senate rejected Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) amendment that called for conducting more studies on Keystone while its application remains pending.

That amendment, which fell 33-66, aimed to answer questions of how much of Keystone’s oil is intended for overseas markets and how much of the pipeline’s steel would come from U.S. firms, among other things.

“It’s not true that all the work has been done. We don’t know how much of the steel will be American. We don’t how many of the jobs will be American. We don’t know if our national security people think that dirty tar sands is going to create climate disruption,” Boxer said after her amendment fell, before the Senate took up Hoeven’s measure.

I have to admit, this story put me in the very rare position of actually agreeing with Barbara Boxer.

Yet, what did we expect?

Of course Keystone XL picked up Senate backing! The oil and pipeline people have much more money and power than you & I do.

Whether or not WE want the pipeline is irrelevant to the oil companies and their paid-for henchmen in Washington.

Our government isn’t run by you & me. It’s run by the corporations. And a government run by the corporations is called Fascism.

But, don’t say that too loud. You’ll be labeled a SOCIALIST!

Bloomberg behind $12m ad campaign for gun regulations

The commercial is an unambiguous appeal to gun owners: A middle-aged hunter, rifle in hand, vows that he will fight to protect the Second Amendment.

But in a sensible, father-of-the house tone, he also urges voters to support comprehensive background checks, ‘‘so criminals and the dangerously mentally ill can’t buy guns.’’

The man behind the advertisement is not known for his kinship with the gun crowd: New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, the nation’s fiercest advocate of restrictions on firearms since the December rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Determined to persuade Congress to act in response to that shooting, Bloomberg on Monday will begin bankrolling a $12 million national advertising campaign that focuses on senators who he believes might be persuaded to support a pending package of federal regulations to curb gun violence.

The ads, in a dozen states, will blanket those senators’ districts during an Easter congressional recess that is to be followed by debate over the legislation.

For sale to the highest bidder. AND they’ll convince us it’s for our own good!

To this country boy, the solution if rich Hollywood Directors and Producers and Wall Street poltroons want gun control for the masses, all they have to do is pool their money together and pay “our” politicians on Capitol Hill more money than the NRA pays them.

After all, “our” senators and congressmen are all whores for sale to the highest bidder.

What the heck. Maybe if they throw enough money at Congress, they can get them to eliminate the entire Constitution.

They can even have ad campaigns designed to convince us that it would be great for all of us.

We don’t need rights or Constitutions to define our basic rights. We have DRONES to protect us!

After all, if we can throw out one part of the Constitution, it would be a great precedent for “our” lawmakers to start cutting out ALL the parts that actually favor “We, the people.”

 But, what do I know.

I’m just a small town boy that cuts firewood now.

Never mind that in the past I worked on several big pipeline projects and recognized them for what they were.

They all created VERY temporary boom cycles for the local communities affected by the projects. The workers came in and then they left.

THIS is what you’re left with. Not jobs. And if the thing springs a leak, you either have BOOM!, or an environmental disaster and cleanup to deal with

What happened?

At first, all the local people were convinced to be for the project, but when they saw there really was nothing in it for them except for a screwed-up landscape and a big eyesore, they turned against the project.

The local motels, bars, and restaurants made some money, and then it was all gone.

 Except for the fact that the local communities were left with an unsightly and sometimes dangerous pipeline in their midst. No long-term “jobs” were created.

The big companies took their money and ran.

But, it’s all good. Shareholders will make money. Oil company execs will make money. Politicians will make money. And we’ll be left forever waiting for the trickle down!

While our attention is somewhere else, we’ll all get knocked out if we lose our focus

Our Constitution will be dismantled bit by bit and we’ll be thinking about some starlets ass or whether or not Justin Beiber has a vagina.

While the earth is being destroyed, we’ll all cry and fight about gun control.

While the earth is being destroyed, we’ll all worry about not having $458k for “spring essentials”.

Screw Hollywood.

Screw Congress.

Screw Wall Street.

A FREE COUNTRY?

“If it’s so bad here, why are all them Messicans trying to get in?”

Same shit. Different day.

We’ve been assured yet again that our government will keep running (yawn) and that our Medicare and SS checks won’t bounce.

  SO WHAT?

Maybe we’re becoming immune to the news.

So much goes on that we can’t possibly process it all. Heck, I have a hard enough time worrying about buying enough gas and 2-cycle mix for my chainsaw so that I can cut firewood and avoid freezing.

Hell, at least we live in a FREE COUNTRY!

Even if it’s the same kind of freedom that allows a kid to tell the school thugs “No” when they demand his lunch money. He’s free to get his ass kicked and robbed regardless of his choice.

We’ve all heard the typical redneck argument: “If it’s so bad here, why are all them Messicans trying to get in?”….and I’m sick of it.

To me, that’s akin to asking someone who sustained 2nd degree burns on their genitals if they’ rather have had 3rd degree burns.

But anyway….

If any of you were wondering if the government was going to shut down anytime soon….

It isn’t. Too bad.

House approves resolution to keep the government running; bill heads to White House

Here’s one of those hucksters now, looking as if she’s getting ready for yet another “money shot” from Jamie Dimon and Wall Street!

Congress has approved a short-term funding measure, averting the chance of an agency shutdown next week. But a broader battle over taxes and spending for the year is only just beginning.

The House gave final approval Thursday on a broad bipartisan 318 to 109 vote to a continuing funding resolution that outlines spending through the Sept. 30 conclusion of the fiscal year. It assures that the government will stay open when the funding measure now supporting it expires March 27.

The House vote came a day after the Senate also signed off the bill. It now goes to President Obama for his signature, ending a relatively smooth and drama-free process for a Congress that has repeatedly deadlocked on spending issues.

But it covers only the next six months. Lawmakers are still debating how much to tax and spend for the years to come.

Michele Bachmann Tries To Run Away From CNN’s Dana Bash

Dana Bash vs Michelle Bachmann!

Michele Bachmann tested CNN correspondent Dana Bash’s speed on Tuesday when she tried to duck questions about some false claims she made during her recent speech to the CPAC conference.

“She literally raced away from our Dana Bash,” Anderson Cooper told viewers on his show.

Bachmann made comments about the supposedly lavish lifestyle Obama leads inside the White House during her speech at CPAC, slamming the professional dog walker and multiple chefs she said were being paid with taxpayer money.

“The claims of $1.4 billion in White House perks and excess, they fail on the facts in simple fairness.”

Retirement crisis ahead for boomers and Gen Xers

With most workers having less than $25,000 in total savings, Americans are headed for a dismal old age. And many ‘have their heads in the sand.

“You couldn’t save enough, Grandpa! Here’s your reward for a lifetime of hard work!”

It’s often said that getting old isn’t for sissies, but baby boomers and Gen Xers may find that’s an understatement. 

Americans aren’t saving enough to retire, with 57% of U.S. workers reporting less than $25,000 in total household savings and investments, excluding their homes

Even worse, the study found fewer workers are actually putting money aside for retirement, with only 57% saying they’re currently saving, down from 65% in 2009, the study found. 

“Be sure to put some food aside for when you retire, citizen!”

It’s not something that workers are unconcerned about, however, as 28% said they have no confidence they’ll be able to retire comfortably, up from 23% just last year. 

“With baby boomers and Gen Xers, 44% of them will run short of money in retirement,” Jack VanDerhei, the research director at EBRI, told MSN Money. 

“Forty-one percent of people in the lowest income quartile will run short of money within the first decade of retirement.”

We try to protest and the media destroys us. We fall for the media lies every time

Yet, maybe it is all our fault.

We allow the media to lead us around by the nose.

We all profess to mistrust lawyers and yet we keep electing them. We elect the same jackasses over and over again.

We all profess to want “change” and yet, whenever someone runs for office that isn’t “part of the club” they’re destroyed by the media and the harpies in politics……

AND WE FALL FOR IT EVERY TIME.

Nearly Half of Americans Have More Credit Card Debt Than Savings

Who would’ve ever guessed the slaves of the 21st century would be shackled in plastic chains?

Only 55 percent of Americans have more in emergency savings than they have in credit card debt, according to a survey by Bankrate.com.

This is the third time Bankrate.com has asked survey participants which they hold in higher quantity: credit card debt or emergency savings.

This year’s figure has shifted little from the previous two years. In 2012, 54 percent of Americans said they had more in emergency savings than credit card debt. In 2011, it was 52 percent.

Nearly half?

All that means is that 45% of the people asked admitted to being seriously in debt. Admitted to drowning.

I’m willing to bet more than 45% of Americans have been forced to sell their souls to the banksters, but they were too ashamed to admit it.

Too ashamed to admit they had to go into debt to maintain a “passable/survivable” lifestyle. They didn’t want to be seen as what some rich bastards in their fat offices define as a loser.

But, hey……

Bolshoi ballet was ‘giant brothel’ claims former dancer

Here’s Anastasia. She looks damned light and healthy to me!

The Bolshoi Ballet has been mired in further controversy after a former soloist claimed female dancers were forced to sleep with wealthy patrons.

Anastasia Volochkova accused the theatre’s general director of turning the company “into a giant brothel”.

Outspoken Volochkova, who has dabbled in TV talent and talk shows, was fired from the Bolshoi in 2003 for being too heavy.

General director Anatoly Iksanov dismissed the claims as “ravings”.

Volochkova made the allegations during an interview on a television talk show in Russia on Sunday, later repeating them in a radio interview with Russian News Service.

“It mainly happened with the corps du ballet but also with the soloists,” she said.

“The girls were forced to go along to grand dinners and given advance warning that afterwards they would be expected to go to bed and have sex,” she alleged.

Men in America would NEVER use their positions of influence and power to screw beautiful women, would they?

“When the girls asked: ‘What happens if we refuse?’, they were told that they would not go on tour or even perform at the Bolshoi theatre. Can you imagine?”

Like hell. It happens all the time, but at least we’re free. After all, if it were to happen here, she would have the freedom to refuse sex.

She would have the freedom to speak out about it. The freedom to try to find another job and career. The freedom to leave the country if she chose to do so.

Heck, if she didn’t like it here, she could move to RUSSIA!

THIS is the type of FREEDOM we have here. She CAN say no. She’s FREE to resist and face the consequences

So, what kind of freedom do we really have here?

The freedom to speak out? If you do, and you step on the wrong influential toes, that’s a jailin’.

The freedom to take to the streets in protest? That’s a beat-down and a ridicule by the press AND your fellow citizens.

The freedom to find another job? If you quit your job because the boss is a bully (or worse, trying to get into your pants) and is making your life miserable, in this economy, you’re risking dying homeless on the streets.

Yep. We’re free

Free to move around the country and maybe starve? Maybe to find out the grass isn’t any greener on the other side?

Yeah, right. Fuck you.

We’re free, alright.

Define “freedom”. If you have a legitimate grievance and the “powers that be” won’t listen and don’t care, is THAT freedom of speech?

If you have a legitimate grievance and the “powers that be” put you in jail, is that freedom?

We’re free to do what? Think about it.

What a pussy

Today is the birthday of the savior of the “free” world, but there will be no celebrations, no fireworks, no speeches in his honor, and no accolades for the dead statesman.

You see…..

History remembers him as a “pussy.”

The “pussy” in question is Neville Chamberlain. For those of you who don’t know who he was, here’s a quick lesson:

Neville Chamberlain, was a British Conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May 1937 to May 1940.

Chamberlain is best known for his appeasement foreign policy, and in particular for his signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938, conceding the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia to Germany.

When Adolph Hitler continued his aggression by invading Poland, Britain declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, and Chamberlain led Britain through the first eight months of the Second World War.

I wonder what it was like for him to do what he knew was best for his country, knowing full well that he would be publicly humiliated and castrated. Seen for decades as a “man without balls”?

He knew full well if he didn’t appease Hitler in Munich that war with Germany would be almost inevitable. He knew his country was woefully unprepared for war. The RAF was severely understrength, and the British Army was very poorly equipped and would be no match for the German Army.

So, he followed his conscience and “sold out” Czechoslovakia in order to buy time for England to prepare for the Nazi onslaught that was sure to someday come.

He bought time for the free world. He did the right thing and was castigated.

Some in England and America even suggested that he was a traitor.

In today’s society, following your conscience and doing the right thing for your country WILL get you branded at best, an “activist” or “dirty hippie occupier” and at worst, A TRAITOR.

Branded a “pussy” by the very country you love and were willing to fight for. Put on trial.

Need proof? Google “Bradley Manning”.

I wonder if Bradley Manning will have to wait for 72 years like Neville Chamberlain did before historians begin to look upon him as a man with BALLS who did what was best for his country despite the risks?

That being said, let’s dive into the news. The nuclear issue is getting a lot of press these days. Here’s the latest:

Under threat, South Koreans mull nuclear weapons

This is what our leaders want us to believe “rogue nations” think of each of us. It’s a scare tactic

The barrage of threats from North Korea has sparked talk from within South Korea of the need to develop its own nuclear weapons.

A recent poll shows that two-thirds of South Korean citizens surveyed support the idea, especially in the wake of North Korea’s third nuclear test in February.

“We, the Korean people, have been duped by North Korea for the last 20 to 30 years and it is now time for South Koreans to face the reality and do something that we need to do,” said Chung Mong-joon, a lawmaker in the governing Saenuri (New Frontier) Party and a former presidential conservative candiate. “The nuclear deterrence can be the only answer. We have to have nuclear capability.”

We always hear about the dangers of “rogue nations” getting “the bomb” or other various types of weapons of mass destruction. You know, those wild and crazy North Koreans, Saddam, Fidel Castro, Chavez and their ilk.

They’re unpredictable and crazy. They’re a threat to our society. We should FEAR them and if need be, CRUSH them.

Has anyone ever stopped to look for a common denominator among the nations we count as our enemies (other than the fact we’re told they’re dangerous)?

Here’s your common denominator.

None of those “enemies” would allow themselves to be dominated by WALL STREET and that’s precisely why we’re told they are our enemies.

The REAL weapon of mass destruction in this world of today is the dollar bill and the maximum profit mentality that is driving our economy and society into the ground.

The dollar bill kills more people every day than any battle ever fought throughout history.

So, what do we do about it?

Not much it seems. People will do ANYTHING for money.

Money has become a matter of survival for most of us and Wall Street knows it.

That’s why most of the money in this country is in the hands of the very few, who distribute just enough of the wealth to keep a small class/group of lackeys happy, pacified and in control of the rest of us “unwashed masses.”

The Democrats and Republicans may be worlds apart on most things, but at their headquarters just two blocks away from each other on Capitol Hill, each is confronting the same question:

In the wake of two presidential defeats, the Republican National Committee on Monday unveiled what it is calling its Growth and Opportunity Project, which is an effort to take the existing party engine and give it a top-to-bottom tuneup.

“There’s no one reason we lost. Our message was weak; our ground game was insufficient; we weren’t inclusive; we were behind in both data and digital; and our primary and debate process needed improvement,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said Monday.

“So, there’s no one solution. There’s a long list of them.”

Another conservative icon. Here we see Ann Coulter walking with a negro! Ain’t she modern and cool?

The report also recommends outsourcing to “friends and allies” at least some of the responsibilities that used to be considered the party’s job.

They include recruiting minority and women candidates, training grass-roots activists, registering voters and gathering and analyzing data.

Even the winning side of last year’s presidential election has been doing some re-examination.

This past week has seen President Obama’s old campaign operation relaunching itself as Organizing for Action, building a new political machine outside the Democratic National Committee and causing some quiet consternation among party traditionalists.

They’ve sold out and become so corrupted, so out of touch with the populace, so in the pocket of big business and their lobbyists that they’ve become about as useful to the average American as a piece of rotten meat.

Unless they’re blind and stupid (or so befuddled by the media and all the new gadgets that technology has provided for us), even a monkey can see that our government has sold out to Wall Street and the lure of fame and fortune.

Madonna rips Boy Scouts at GLAAD Awards

I wonder if Madonna and Anderson Cooper slipped each other the tongue? Go back to your lunch now!

Madonna has never been a stranger to controversy, and she once again dipped her toe into those waters at last night’s GLAAD Awards, where she was presenting an award to Anderson Cooper.

Dressed in an oversized Boy Scout uniform, Madonna took the organization to task for its policy that bans gay people from joining.

“I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn’t let me join,” she said during a 10-minute speech. “I think that’s f–ked up. I know how to build a fire. I can pitch a tent … most importantly, I know how to scout for boys.”

The singer claimed/joked she was a Girl Scout and got kicked out for wearing a skirt that was too short and not selling enough cookies.

We’re still arguing about the gay rights issue which should have been settled sometime around 1960 but wasn’t.

Why?

Because it’s harmless to “the powers that be” and serves to divide “We, the People”.

Imagine a country where, instead of spending TRILLIONS on useless wars for the profit of the few……

Imagine a country where, instead of spending BILLIONS on a failed war on drugs….

Imagine a country where, instead of spending BILLIONS on pork-barrel politics…

Imagine a country where, instead of spending BILLIONS on tax breaks for the mega-corporations…..

Imagine if we worked towards clean energy and renewable non-polluting resources?

We take that money and put it to work repairing our crumbling infrastructure.

We take that money and put it to work rebuilding American industry.

We take that money and put it to work rehabilitating our homeless and our veterans.

We take that money and put PEOPLE to work at WELL PAYING JOBS?

I GUARANTEE YOU that the VAST majority of our society wouldn’t care if their neighbors were gay or straight as long as THEY were reasonably prosperous and secure.

Yet, will we imagine any of this? Probably not. We’ll look at the pictures of Madonna and Anderson Cooper and cynically think:

“I bet between the two of them, they’ve seen more wieners than Yankee Stadium”!

So………

Hillary and Madonna will tout their support of gay rights in an effort to stay popular and relevant in today’s entertainment and political world (same thing).

Hillary is a politician who will say and do ANYTHING to get attention in an effort to get Wall Street’s backing to become their next middle manager for this country.

And Madonna….

Well, she’s just marketing herself. They’re not heroes. If they thought they could once again rise to the top and remain relevant by parading naked down Times Square with swastikas painted on their butts, they would do it hand in hand.

That ain’t the Swastika flag behind him, folks…..yet. But if our government has it’s way, it will soon be and he will be remembered by history in the same light as another (albeit British) National hero….Neville Chamberlain

So tonight, let’s all quietly raise a glass to the REAL HEROES of the free world and drink a toast to Neville Chamberlain and Bradley Manning.
