Greetings from Calico Blackie!
To all my East Coast friends: STAY SAFE!!!
I had a friend who always LOUDLY proclaimed how liberal and left-wing he was, supporting various causes such as saving the whales, saving the redwoods, and his favorite cause, gay rights.
I don’t think he really believes in any of those causes. It’s just a way for him to win acceptance and accolades from his friends.
The other day, I asked him if he supported the “Occupy Movement” and he said no.
So I asked him why.
His reply:
“They had no clear message. They didn’t even know why they were protesting.”
Fuck him.
Anyway, you finally reach a point where you begin to wonder if it’s all worth saving.
Here’s a little story to illustrate my point:
My wife and I once had this beautiful Jeep Wrangler that we slaved away making the payments on for years.
I loved that little car.
Took it on archaeological projects and drove it all over the Nation. What a pleasure it was to take the top off and cruise down the road!
Then, one day, my stepson borrowed it and totaled it out.
Goodbye Jeep.
Or, was it goodbye? I have a tendency to hang onto my dreams, so I asked my insurance person (Progressive Insurance) how bad the damage was to the car and if it could be fixed. He replied that the frame didn’t appear to be bent and that, although it would require a new front end, it could be fixed up “good as new” but that it would have a “salvage” title.

Just like Romney and Obama, she’s paid by the corporations to say what she says and do what she does. AND, JUST LIKE ROMNEY AND OBAMA, SHE DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU
I didn’t care about that.
I just wanted to get the Jeep on the road again, so I bought it back from the insurance company, got it towed home, and started taking it apart.
I had a dream that the Jeep would rise again from scratch, better than before.
When I got it disassembled, I discovered in addition to needing to replace the top, roll bar, drivers seat, bumper, springs, and other internal parts, the frame was bent beyond repair and that the entire front end would need replacing, .
The dream died and I sold the wrecked Jeep for parts, taking a horrible loss in the process. I WAS LIED TO!
The moral of the story? Actually, there are two morals:
1. Buyer beware. Insurance agents are NOT your friends.
2. Know when to give up on a dream and know when to start over from scratch.
We’ve got to ask ourselves: IS OUR COUNTRY TOTALED?
But, well……
The partisan bullshit continues.
Here’s a story from that bastion of right-wing reporting, breitbart.com:
Leadership: Romney Uses Campaign Bus to Deliver Hurricane Relief
The Romney campaign has canceled campaign events, commercials, and fundraising appeals in states that will be impacted by Hurricane Sandy, and is instead using a campaign bus to help deliver supplies to those who will be impacted by what forecasters are predicting may be a “storm of the century.”
The Obama campaign has canceled events, but has yet to announce it have pulled commercials or fundraising appeals from states in Sandy’s path.
Romney was also first on the scene when Hurricane Irene struck the Gulf Coast in August, with President Obama arriving three days later after adjusting his schedule.
Calico Blackie says:
Throw the peasants a few crumbs. Show up at the rally with a few supplies for my supporters and fuck everybody else!
@kidakita said on twitter:
“Just another photo-op. All bogus. Both candidates don’t give a damn about us.”
And the reply he got from a Romulan?……
“Obama’s Failed Policies Unacceptable! FIRE the LIAR! ELECT ROMNEY 2 RESCUE the FUTURE!”
Calico Blackie says:
Yeah, right. Liar? That’s the pot calling the kettle black, but people just can’t seem to see it. Rescue the future?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Are you REALLY that stupid? Whose future?
Then came this comment after the article in which a Romney supporter answered the negative comments left by Obama supporters……
“It’s a human decency thing. You wouldn’t understand.”
Calico Blackie replied:
Human decency? Offshoring thousands of jobs in the name of increased profits for his already rich friends and laying off AMERICAN workers is decency?
Tying his dog to the top of his car for a 12 hour drive on the highway is decency?
Holding down and forcibly cutting the hair of a classmate simply because the classmate had hair that was too long for Romneys taste is decency?
And you talk of decency?
This man has no decency. The man is a ruthless bully. People are dying out there and this shitball is exploiting the fact to make political hay? He’s rich. He could have loaded up an unmarked semi with supplies and sent it to the East Coast if he really wanted to help.
But, hey…..
The “golden shower” continues, and is it ever warm and comfortable!
Here’s the latest numbers…….
October surprise: Americans feeling better about economy
With only days to go before the presidential election, a remarkable thing has happened: Americans have stopped feeling quite so crummy about the economy in general, and their personal financial situation in particular.
It’s too early to say that people have completely let go of the financial worries brought on by the Great Recession and weak recovery.
Still, several data points released this month show that Americans are feeling less negative about their finances and the economy, and a little more willing to spend money.
The slightly more optimistic feelings come more than three years after the economy officially came out of recession and limped into the current sluggish expansion.
The modest upswing would seem to be a boon for President Barack Obama, since his handling of the economy has been a top election issue. But Saad cautioned that much of the gain is coming from Democrats.
Among Republicans, there was a decline since January in those feeling better off.
That may reflect the feelings of those who support challenger Mitt Romney and see a better future under his leadership.
The unemployment rate has been edging down very slowly for a while and dropped below 8 percent last month for the first time since 2009. But many economists said recent signs the housing sector is stabilizing may have been a bigger driver of improved consumer feelings in recent months.
“The question is, is it sustainable?” Swonk said of the slow economic improvements. “We’re in a pretty fragile situation and it’s only sustainable if those other shocks that people don’t think about don’t … sneak up on us.”

Calico Blackie says:
First, there is no recovery unless you’re in the 1%. Then, everything is hunky-dory!
Then……
How many people fell off the unemployment rolls? How many people just gave up? How many of these people are now homeless and untrackable? How many of these people are now in prison and don’t count anymore? How many of these people were forced to take a low paying “McJob” and are now living well below the poverty level?
The list of unanswered questions is endless.
All these people that are lying to us, doctoring statistics, and playing partisan politics remind me of the wife of a 45 year-old man that was convicted of screwing a 15-year-old girl here in the County.
When the wife was asked why she stayed with her husband after that, she replied:
“The girl entrapped him. She was asking for it.”
All I can figure out was that, since they had been married for 20 years, maybe the truth was just too horrible for her to contemplate.
Maybe her brain short-circuited and she so badly wanted to believe that her husband wasn’t a kiddie-diddling pervert that she went into a state of permanent denial.
And, don’t give me that tired bullshit of “some 15-year-olds are very mature for their age and are very sexually active, and she probably wanted that 45-year old.”
BULLSHIT. YOU ARE THE ADULT.
IT’S UP TO YOU TO PREVENT THE SITUATION.
Thus, it’s unthinkable to the Romulans and Obamites to admit that the system is broken and totaled beyond repair – NO MATTER IF THERE’S A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE.
It’s unthinkable for them to wake up and realize that they’re being diddled.
It’s much more comfortable for them to go into denial and say:
“She (the poor & middle class) was asking for it.”
and…..
“Romama-Obamney will save us.”
It’s time for us to end the denial. Time to do the ADULT THING and walk away from it all. End the 2-party system and end the electoral college.
Maybe it’s time for us to stop trying to fix a totaled machine. Maybe it’s time to know when to give up on a dream and know when to start over from scratch.
Whatever we’re doing doesn’t seem to be working. “Occupy” held a big march and demonstration in Oakland a few days ago. Did you hear about it?
Time to start over. Let’s do it together.
“Occupy” is a start. A toolkit to help shape our future.

I just tried to comment and couldn’t. Let me try again. I erased the website from the website URL field. Lately several sites will only let me publish a comment if I do not fill that field.
I had the exact same experience with an otherwise intelligent person telling me the same thing “no clear message” re Occupy.
I don’t know man, I just don’t know anymore. That’s all I know.
I know someone who said THE EXACT SAME THING. “Hey if I were out of a job I’d be down there demonstrating too LIKE SKIPPY!!! But they don’t really have a clear message!!!”
Swear to god.
It’s like it comes out of the TV, goes into the brain, comes out the mouth and there’s NOTHING THAT HAPPENS IN BETWEEN.
And until that shit gets switched off, it’s never gonna change.
I don’t know, man. I try. I try and try. I sit here and yell as loud as I can into this computer but you know what? I’m not actually sure it’s a communication machine. In fact I’m starting to wonder if computers are an ingenious way that’s been devised to make everyone sit still and point and click all day rather than taking action in the 3-D world.
But at least, in the computer, there’s INFORMATION. And people who aren’t brainwashed.
Damn it bums me out.
