Guten Morgen!

Quick! To the Bat Cave! It’s al-Qaeda!!!

Anybody notice this in the news yesterday between the stories of Lindsay Lohan’s father getting arrested, Jennifer Aniston not being pregnant, and Charlie Sheens new show getting picked up?

It seems as if The United States has a brand new military base open in Ethiopia.

From CNN:

“The Air Force has been secretly flying armed Reaper drones on counter-terrorism missions from a remote civilian airport in southern Ethiopia as part of a rapidly expanding U.S.-led proxy war against an al-Qaeda affiliate in East Africa, U.S. military officials said.”

Oh Lord!

We live in a Republic, loosely based on the tenets of democracy.  Our elected officials are supposed to (in theory) represent the interests and desires of the general population.  We have the right to vote.

So, you say?

Make each vote COUNT

If I was “Fuhrer for the Day”………

We would put our overseas military involvement to a national vote.

While we are at it, let’s vote on a resolution that would allow for the draft to be reinstated and enforced on a sliding scale of how much each family is worth — FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.

The way it has been in past, the “poor people fought the rich mans wars.”  Membership in Congress would mean automatic service in the armed forces for their relatives and children.

ANGRY YET?  Here’s some wry humor to help settle the blood pressure:

Send me an email if you don’t get the joke

But, in order to ensure fairness, each “draftee” would have their choice of going in to the Marines, Navy Seals, or the 82nd Airborne.

No deferments would be given until the draft quota was reached.

How many wars do you think we would then get involved in?

Fuhrer for a day would have the polls open tomorrow.

I bet there would be the biggest voter turnout ever in the history of The United States.

EVER!

Meanwhile…….

Worth a thousand words

I love how seeking redress for grievances through first amendment protected acts of assembly and speech are now anathema to the way America operates.

The Reality: “People exercise their right free speech to protest the corruption of money in politics, private rewards for public losses, offshoring and outsourcing.”

Media Spin: “Dirty hippies, unemployed layabouts, and entitled college students whine to government for free money.”

Hey, it worked for Mubarak...
And for Ghadaffi, too!

And:

CNN: America’s number one Infotainment source!

Although I sometimes tend to rail against the tripe that we’re being fed by the corporate media, there are some hard realities to face when confronting the crap we call “news.”

Now with more bread and circuses!

The media doesn’t have to distract the public.

Most of the public actively chooses not to care about important things.

Look at the “most popular” tabs on news sites that have them.

People would rather read about which celebrity is getting arrested, going to rehab, getting divorced, acting like a compete idiot, posing naked, etc.

The more useless the celebrity the better:  Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, anyone from reality TV are fine examples of this cultural phenomenon.

But she’s gonna pose NUDE in Playboy Magazine!

The simple fact is that most people don’t like to hear bad news, or they like to read about the “rough” time some celebrity is having.

It’s easier to put a ribbon on your car, or post an empty gesture update on your Facebook status than it is to actually do something about the problems in this world.

It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

It helps people sleep at night.

Hey, did anybody notice this in the news?

“Stocks soared Thursday afternoon after European leaders agreed on a deal to slash Greece’s debt load and prevent the debt crisis there from engulfing larger countries like Italy.”

“Stronger U.S. economic growth and corporate earnings also drove markets higher.”

Wow! We’re all gonna be RICH

“The Dow Jones industrial average shot up 372 points, or 3.14 percent, while the broader S&P 500 index rose 46 points, or 3.69 percent.”

“The tech-heavy Nasdaq gained about 95 points, or 3.6 percent.”

WOOHOO!

Do you think this will mean anything to us in the long run?

Hell no. The rich took their profits and got richer.

AND THAT’S ALL IT MEANS.

This stock market “news” is just bullshit designed to make us feel better.

Speaking of mindless entertainment:

Saw this the other day……

Wow! It's a sham! Wall Street, Now With 100% More Profit for the 1%!

“You might have gotten a hint that things were getting worse when TV produced series on Pitchmen — who made a good living basically lying to you about products — and made them look good.”

“Then the DIY programs switched from teaching you how to fix your house for years of comfortable living to getting it ready to maximize profits for when you flipped it.”

“Then you consider that the ‘Day of the Lawyer’ arrived where everyone started suing everyone else — which didn’t help lower costs any, but made being a litigator a very lucrative business.

“Now, your TV is flooded with ads from law firms instructing you on the many, many things you can sue over that you’d previously have never bothered with.”

Why work when you can SUE!

Pay no attention to the banker smoking a cigar behind the curtain.

Meanwhile, on the “Occupy” front:

It looks like the Gestapo was making arrests on the protesters in San Diego last night.

Details are sketchy.

Last, but not least…If you’re the praying type, please include these two Kentucky coal miners in your prayers.

Centertown: “Two miners have been trapped in a western Kentucky coal mine, Kentucky officials say.  Preliminary reports showed that two employees from a blasting crew drove a truck near a high wall and when rock fell, it trapped the men in the truck.”

It’s our Patriotic Duty
