Watching the livestreams yesterday from Oakland and Philadelphia, I was happy to see just how diverse the “Occupy Movement” continues to be.
Even though it is still described as consisting of a few “hippie radicals” by the mainstream media, the proof is plain for all to see when you view the livestreamers coverage in action.
I was also VERY pleased to hear the streamer in Philadelphia (@punkboyinsf) give his viewers an impassioned plea to make every effort for all the occupiers across the country to stop with the “fuck the police” chants and protests.
Officer Ray Lewis knows the score
We NEED to do outreach with individual members of the police forces in this country. Convince them, one at a time, that they are not supporting their city or America when they act in the interest of the 1%, instead of protecting and serving the American people and the Constitution.
We NEED to do outreach with individual members of society too. That way, we can show the fence-sitters in the “silent majority” the fact that if they don’t at least passively support dissent, they are contributing to oppression.
Otherwise, we’re just preaching to the choir.

It gets damn tough though.
Seeing the ruthless attack by five fully armed, riot gear clad members of the Oakland Police on livestreamer @courtneyoccupy who was trying to bring the truth to American citizens makes this country boy VERY upset and angry.
They acted as bullies. Plain and simple.
Let OPD come up here to Klamath River Country, outside of their comfort zone, and try that shit with a bunch of country folk.
But, they would never do that. They’d get their asses kicked and we would have all kinds of new equipment to play with after we sent them back down south naked.
Anyway…..
The truth will win out in the end and the 1% knows this
As I was saying earlier, the Occupy Movement is diverse and that scares the hell out of the 1%.
They know damn well that, while they and their media puppets can paint the movement in the city as being comprised of a bunch of hippies, not everyone will buy into the propaganda. That’s where the livestreamers are most important.
They broadcast the truth.
That’s why the cops have taken to trying to arrest the livestreamers first.
The livestreamers and alternate news sources bring the reality of a situation to people like me.
People who will then show their rural neighbors the truth and explain the REAL situation to them.
What chance do you think this poor guy would have explaining the Occupy Movement to a gathering of liquored-up rednecks?
People like me, a 56 year-old redneck that can sit on a neighbors porch with a group of friends, barbecue, drink cheap American beer, talk about hunting rifles, and then talk about the Occupy Movement and how the Movement is helping us “country folk” to fight against the 1% political and financial machine that is pushing us deeper and deeper into poverty.
People like me who can demonstrate to small town America that those “dirty hippie protesters” are the “good guys.”
People like me who have a very hard time convincing their neighbors when all they’re shown on TV is large groups of protesters screaming “FUCK THE POLICE.”
They don’t hear about @courtneyoccupy getting illegally assaulted by five cops in Oakland unless people like me tell them.
They hear: “FUCK THE POLICE” and we lose supporters.
Ask yourself: Is this eventually our ultimate goal?
That’s why we need to be careful. That’s why if we ever decide to go from a non-violent stance to a more radical approach, we had better make sure we already have enough support from the silent majority to be victorious.
Once we’ve taken that step, there will be no turning back.
So….
Do some outreach. With your neighbors. With friends. On the social media. With any cops you might know.
Gain recruits for the 99%.

Report: Countrywide won influence with discounts
Our government takes bribes while we drown
“The former Countrywide Financial Corp., whose subprime loans helped start the nation’s foreclosure crisis, made hundreds of discount loans to buy influence with members of Congress, congressional staff, top government officials and executives of troubled mortgage giant Fannie Mae, according to a House report.”
“The report, obtained by The Associated Press, said the discounts – from January 1996 to June 2008 – were not only aimed at gaining influence for the company but to help Fannie Mae. Countrywide’s business depended largely on Fannie, which at the time was trying to fend off more government regulation but eventually had to come under government control.”
In rural America, we're having trouble keeping our heads above water and these well-paid rich bastards are taking bribes?
“Documents and testimony obtained by the committee show the VIP loan program was a tool used by Countrywide to build goodwill with lawmakers and other individuals positioned to benefit the company,” the report said. “In the years that led up to the 2007 housing market decline, Countrywide VIPs were positioned to affect dozens of pieces of legislation that would have reformed Fannie” and its rival Freddie Mac, the committee said.
“The Committee’s investigation found Countrywide lobbyists and CEO Angelo Mozilo used discounted loans as a tool to ingratiate itself with policymakers in an effort to benefit the company’s business interests,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican who heads the committee. “This preferential treatment — that varied depending on the influence of the borrower — was not routinely offered to the public.”
“Rather than making quid pro quo arrangements with lawmakers and staff, Countrywide used the VIP loan program to cast a wide net of influence.”

Probation fees rise, firms profit and poor jailed
Courts turn to for-profit businesses that specialize in collections
The politicians are out of touch with the people and THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU
“Three years ago, Gina Ray, who is now 31 and unemployed, was fined $179 for speeding. She failed to show up at court (she says the ticket bore the wrong date), so her license was revoked.”
“When she was next pulled over, she was, of course, driving without a license. By then her fees added up to more than $1,500. Unable to pay, she was handed over to a private probation company and jailed — charged an additional fee for each day behind bars.”
“For that driving offense, Ms. Ray has been locked up three times for a total of 40 days and owes $3,170, much of it to the probation company. Her story, in hardscrabble, rural Alabama, is not about innocence.”
It is, rather, about the mushrooming of fines and fees levied by money-starved towns across the country and the for-profit businesses that administer the system. The result is that growing numbers of poor people, like Ms. Ray, are ending up jailed and in debt for minor infractions.
“With so many towns economically strapped, there is growing pressure on the courts to bring in money rather than mete out justice.”

Desert Paws Rescue desperately needs your immediate help! Our goal is to raise enough money to cover our current medical bills and create a small Emergency Medical Fund so we can continue to help other dogs, cats, puppies and kittens that will otherwise be euthanized.
We have recently taken in an unusually high number of rescues with health issues that required extensive medical care including a kitten that was hit by a car. These rescues have required three very expensive surgeries that have completely depleted our emergency reserve fund!
