FAULTY LOGIC AND CONFORMING WITH SOCIETY

I KNOW what you’re thinking. Now THAT’S the way to demonstrate leadership skills!

As some of you know, I have a habit of examining the micro in society to better understand the macro in society.

I look at the “little things” in order to better see society as a whole.

For instance:

We can take the case of the Salem Witch Trials and use them as an example of “collective hysteria” and mob mentality.

Multiply that by the thousands and you have The Spanish Inquisition and/or Nazi Germany.

Shrink it down and you have The Manson Family.

In each case, large or small, all it takes is a leader.

Today, these small-scale leaders come and go with the times. It’s the large-scale leaders that no longer stand a chance in our world.

Charisma counts for nothing and corporate backing counts for everything. The corporate-owned media creates charisma and tells people whom to follow……

I’ll bet she stopped with the blowjobs for her husband years ago!

And, we follow.

What can we expect? We’re doomed. Victims of our own follies. Victims of our own individual warped logic.

Case in point…..(under 18 years of age, stop reading here!)….

BLOWJOBS!

A good female friend of mine who is 20 years my junior recently ended a 4-year relationship with her live-in boyfriend. Her and I used to work together at one of those tedious jobs where after a few weeks you run out of things to talk about and by then you knew EVERYTHING there is to know about that person.

Anyway…..

Hmmmmmmm…..!

We were talking and she said: “You know what one of the absolute worst things about dating again is going to be?”

Being the ignorant sort, I said “No, what?”

“Blowjobs” she replied. “Having to give blowjobs again.”

What could I say?

After I thought about that little nugget of unwanted information for awhile, I finally got up my nerve and asked her:

“You mean you lived with and loved a guy for 4 years and had stopped with the oral?”

She said: “Yeah, it’s icky.”

I said: “If it’s so icky, why are you willing to suck off new guys that are practically strangers to you when you wouldn’t do it for a guy you supposedly loved? Why don’t you just tell the “new” guys that you don’t give blowjobs?”

She said: “It’s expected when you’re dating. I’m afraid they won’t go out with me again if I don’t”.

I guess we’ll NEVER understand one another!

We’re doomed, I tell you.

That “urge” to please. That urge to conform and do what’s expected is ingrained in each of us to a point where women will give blowjobs to virtual strangers because “it’s expected”. I’m certain there are a million instances of males doing what’s expected while dating (oral being one of them), simply because “it’s expected.”

That’s the micro of it.

On the grand scale, WE CONFORM AND DO WHAT’S EXPECTED. We try not to think about it. We just bob our heads for Uncle Sam no matter how “icky” it has become.

We are victims of our own faulty logic.

Florida Teen Expelled, Charged With Felony For Lesbian Relationship

A Florida family says their 18-year-old daughter was charged with a felony and expelled from high school as a result of a consensual, same-sex relationship with another student.

Kaitlyn Hunt started dating a female classmate at the beginning of the school year when she was 17 and the girl she was dating was about three years younger.

Here’s Kaitlyn now. Why do I feel a bit like Beavis & Butthead when I look at this picture?

According to an account posted to Facebook by Kaitlyn’s mother, in February, shortly after Kaitlyn turned 18, she was arrested on felony charges at the behest of her girlfriend’s parents. The specific crime was “sexual battery on a person 12-16 years old.”

Kaitlyn’s mother believes the charges were motivated by anti-gay animus:

They were out to destroy my daughter, they feel like my daughter “made” their daughter gay. They are bigoted, religious zeolites [sic] that see being gay as a sin and wrong, and they blame my daughter.

But Kaitlyn’s problems did not end there. Her girlfriends’s parents appealed to the school board and had her expelled from Sebastian River High School. Kaitlyn’s mom reports that the State Attorney, Brian Workman, has offered Kaitlyn a plea deal “of two years house arrest and one year probation.” Kaitlyn has until next Friday to accept the plea deal or face a trial.

Why do we have an easier time with seeing Kaitlyn and her girlfriends having it off than with seeing this scenario at one of our high schools?

Taken at face value, it would seem as if the authorities were being extremely rough on the 18-year-old by throwing the book at her.

But, I ask you……

What if it had been an 18-year-old male that was “having a relationship” with a 14 year old boy at his school?

Even better….

What if it was an 18-year-old Boy Scout Troop Leader that was “having a relationship” with one of his 14-year-old Tenderfoot Scouts?

Everyone would be calling for his balls to be chopped off.

But, no………

She’s a cute little young blonde girl, so let’s give her a break!

WE’RE DOOMED!

So, we need to re-examine society. Maybe either set new barriers, or take them all away.

TURN OFF THE TV. THIS IS WHAT WE’RE BECOMING

At any rate….

What we’re doing now ain’t working.

WE NEED CHANGE.

Not the bogus Obama “hope and change” that translates to “business as usual.”

NO!

It’s looking more and more as if we’ll have to tear it all down and start over.

I READ THE NEWS TODAY (oh, boy!)

Stop watching and start reading!

I think, in America, more and more people are beginning to realize the Mainstream Media has become nothing more than entertainment channels.

Little more than “bread and circuses for the masses.”

Even the old tried and true reporters on these networks are losing it.

The other day, I was at a friend’s house watching the news when the Boston bomber was captured.

Wolf Blitzer was reporting and the “reporter on the scene” told Wolf:

“They have him cornered.”

Wolf replied:

“They have who cornered?”

I started laughing and shouted at the television…..

“They have the bloody Lucky Charms leprechaun cornered and they’re gonna steal his Lucky Charms! Who in the hell do you think they have cornered, Wolf?!”

They finally got the bastard!

I must be a joy to my neighbors when they have me over to watch TV.

That being said…..

Did anybody notice a little thing called May Day yesterday?

It was buried under stories of Lohan’s rehab and Paltrow’s panties on all the big networks.

Mostly, you had to go to the alternative and local news webpages to fine a mention of it.

May Day rallies and strikes

Millions took to the streets to take part in May 1 demonstrations around the globe. From union rallies to protests and clashes with police, the International Labor Day events drew attention to the issues of austerity, unemployment and workers rights.

Seattle Police Department confirmed the continued usage of pepper spray. One journalist reported being hit.

Police clad in riot gear and officers using their police bikes as shields attempt to rout and disperse protesters through downtown Seattle.

Local TV broadcaster KIRO depicted scenes of flash bombs and several demonstrators hit with pepper spray.

Thousands have marched in downtown Los Angeles to protest immigration policy, as part of the marches taking place across the country. The rallies coincided with Congress discussing a new bill that would give a path to US citizenship to some 11 million illegal immigrants.

At least five people were arrested at a demonstration in New York City as police hounded approximately 150 May Day protesters en route to Union Square Park. As a procession of demonstrators marched toward the rallying point, a faction ran into the street waving red and black flags, denouncing capitalism.

NEW YORK

Witnesses told The New York Times that police chased the protesters into the street, forcing one to the ground violently.

“He wasn’t doing anything wrong,” one witness said. “He was crossing the street.”

Others in the crowd cursed and shouted at the police as uniformed officers pushed through the marchers, pushing pedestrians and news photographers alike.

Immigration reform takes center stage at Reno rally

The drumbeat for comprehensive immigration reform thumped down streets nationwide Wednesday, including Reno, as Congress prepares to address a bill this month that could present a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11 million living in the U.S. illegally.

THIS is what the media wants you to believe and see when they talk about May Day

Traditionally, May Day is a day for worker rights, dating back to Chicago protests in the late-19th century for the eight-hour work day. May Day serves as Labor Day in many countries.

Anti-business protesters chanted, “The boss needs you, you don’t need the boss.”

Thousands attend Bay Area May Day protests

Thousands of people attended May Day protests in the Bay Area Wednesday.

The biggest crowd was in San Jose where a march stretched for blocks and blocks. The crowd consists of workers, labor groups, civil rights organizations, and religious groups — all focused on raising their voices that lawmakers in Washington need to agree on immigrant rights reform and providing a path for citizenship.

Immigration rights were also the focus of a May Day rally in San Francisco. A demonstration started at Mission and 24th streets in the Mission District and ended up at Civic Center Plaza.

SF BAY AREA

In Oakland, hundreds of immigrant workers, children and community members gathered at Fruitvale Plaza. The demonstration was designed to raise awareness of what they describe as the need to expand rights for all immigrants.

Why doesn’t the news point out the fact that this topic relates directly to all of our rights. It relates to worker’s rights. It relates to HUMAN RIGHTS.

Give the immigrants a fair shake and it would improve conditions for all workers in this country.

A paycheck away from being homeless

According to US government figures, more than a million school aged children are homeless.

In 2010, United States President Barack Obama pledged to end homelessness for children and families within a decade. Since making that promise, however, the number of families facing homelessness in the US has been climbing.

One paycheck away from homelessness and yet our government cuts “entitlements” (ie, social programs) while spending TRILLIONS of dollars for this?

Jane Burks is the president of Volunteers of America of Kentucky, an organization that helps homeless families get off the streets. She says so many working families in the US are living just one crisis away from being homeless. She says that’s because so many jobs in the US no longer pay a living wage.

“If you are making minimum wage, you actually need to hold down two jobs in order to afford a market rate apartment for a family of three or four people,” said Burks.

According to US government figures, more than a million school aged children are homeless. In the past year, the number of homeless families living in rural and suburban areas in the US, has risen by sixty percent.
Almost three years ago, President Obama unveiled a plan to end child and family homelessness in ten years. Yet, recent federal budget cuts have hit many of the programs designed to help needy families.

Lindsay Lohan to bring lots of baggage to rehab: 270 outfits for 90 days

“Hey, it’s really tough to be rich!”

It looks like Lindsay Lohan is planning to dress for success for her sixth stint in rehab. The troubled actress, who will start her court-mandated 90-day rehab sentence on Thursday at the Morningside Recovery Center in Newport Beach, Calif., won’t be traveling lightly. On Tuesday night, she posted a photo on her Instagram account of herself surrounded by luggage and clothing, along with the caption “90 days and 270 looks.”

Lohan’s rehab wardrobe, which would give her three separate outfits per day, will be put to good use at the rehab facility, which features group activities such as bowling, sporting events and even supervised barbecues on the beach.

An abundance of clothing isn’t the only thing that Lohan will be bringing to the rehab facility.

This is for the rest of us peasants

The actress will also have a hefty supply of cigarettes. Morningside, unlike Lohan’s first choice of rehab, the Seafield Center in New York, allows its residents to smoke in designated areas, prompting Lohan to change her rehab plans and fly west.

Lohan’s latest rehab sentence comes after she pleaded no contest in March to charges of lying to a police officer and reckless driving from a June 2012 car crash. In addition to her mandatory stay in a locked rehab facility, the actress must also complete 30 days of community labor, pay fines and restitution to her victim, and attend psychological counseling sessions.

DAMMIT, WE STILL BUY THE LIE!

There ain’t no “trickle” when the rich keep it all for themselves

I was having a discussion the other night with a guy who obviously was much better schooled in the science of economics than I am.

I was talking about how “trickle down economics” was such a farce and yet many Americans still buy the lie.

There are people out there who honestly believe that when the rich get richer, things get better for everyone.

My argument was:

“Why do the poor always seem to get poorer when the rich get richer?”

And:

How can the poor benefit when the rich keep all the money for themselves? Yes, jobs might be created, but the jobs created are usually poverty-level wage jobs that only continue the cycle of poverty in America.

Plus, the rich are getting richer by offshoring jobs to other more easily exploited labor markets.

So, I asked….

This guy knows the “approved” version of American economics

How does that possibly add up to a “trickle down” effect for America’s middle class and poor?

The guy I was talking to looked at me as if I was an idiot and replied: “Obviously, you need to take a class in basic economics.”

Screw him and his mama too.

Rich is rich and poor is poor. When you’re rich, you have more power in this country and that’s the way it is.

That’s called reality.

Equality and the concept that “All Men are Created Equal” have nothing to do with it.

Reality is something we all need to get back to because right now, we’re just running around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off.

Things don’t seem to become REAL until they’re happening to each of us on an individual basis.

For instance:

Here’s how “trickle down” really works. Always has. Always will. The concept of sharing in this country is seen as BAD

There’s been a lot of speculation about the motives for the Boston bombing.

Are they Muslim extremists? Are they crazy? Was their mother involved?

There’s even been suggestions by some that it could have been a “false flag” attack staged by the CIA or some other similar group of hoodlums to use as an excuse for another, more restrictive Patriot Act.

That’s all good and well. But for the families who lost loved ones, or for the people laying in hospital beds with their legs blown off….

All of that talk DON’T MEAN SHIT.

And that’s reality.

THIS IS REALITY

To the poor, to the homeless, to the people who were ruthlessly screwed when they lost their jobs because their workplace was “offshored” in the name of maximum profit, all this talk about the stock market going higher….

all this talk about how we’re going to be suddenly immersed in a golden shower of trickle down economics…..

all this talk about how we’re all soon going to be having rainbows shooting out of our butts due to a strong (ie…the rich getting richer) economy….

DON’T MEAN SHIT.

The reality of it is: THERE ISN’T A SUCH THING AS TRICKLE DOWN.

The rich keep it all for themselves, and if we’re lucky, we get their scraps.

Anyway, from The Institute of the Painfully Obvious, here’s an economic newsflash for you…..

Wealthy spenders could drive economy in 2013

And, we’re being fooled by bullshit stories like this.

The consumer economy may look weak. But affluent and wealthy consumers are ramping up their spending – and that could help drive the broader economy this year.

Two new studies show that the wealthy plan to increase their spending despite higher taxes and a generally skeptical view of economic growth and government.

The American Affluence Research Center looked at the top 10 percent of consumers by income who account for more than half of consumer spending. It found that most of them plan to spend the same or more in 2013 than they did in 2012.

A separate survey from the Harrison Group and American Express Publishing found among the top 10 percent of earners, 25 percent plan to spend more on luxury this year – up from 15 percent last year. Among the top 1 percent, nearly a third plan to spend more, up from 21 percent last year.

The main reason: rising stocks, better incomes and more job security.

Can you believe it? Who would have ever thought that rich people spend more money than poor people?

This news made me very optimistic for the economic future of our country!

It’s comforting to know that while I’m wrenching in the junkyard trying to find a serviceable part for my 14 year old pickup truck, there are people in this great nation that will be helping me by buying their Porches and BMW’s and contributing to my economic well-being by doing so.

Get it straight, people. Whether or not a bunch of Hollywood Stars and other rich people buy fancy imported cars and other big ticket items isn’t going to make a bit of difference to you & me.

And the news gets even better!

Nasdaq ends at best level since 2000

Better teach your kids to be entrepreneurs now because when your job is gone and your family is homeless, where the Nasdaq is sitting won’t mean a damn thing to you. But being able to make a saleable commodity so that you can feed your family will! That’s reality

Stocks finished near session highs Monday, with the S&P 500 setting a record close and the Nasdaq ending at its best level since November 2000, following a better-than-expected pending home sales report and after Italy’s new prime minister named his cabinet over the weekend, ending two months of political deadlock in the nation.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 106.20 points to end at 14,818.75, led by Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard.

The S&P 500 climbed 11.37 points to end at 1,593.61, logging a fresh closing high and surpassing its previous record set on April 11. And the Nasdaq rallied 27.76 points to finish at 3,307.02, closing at its highest level since November 2000.

Well, I’ll sleep better tonight knowing that the Nasdaq is higher than a kite.

All that means is that the rich haven’t taken their profits yet by selling in huge blocks and leaving the small investors holding the bag. But wait awhile because they’re just biding their time.

US home prices rose in February compared with a year ago by the most in nearly 7 years

After awhile, you begin to understand this attitude

U.S. home prices rose in February compared with a year ago by the most in nearly seven years, as a growing number of buyers bid on a limited supply of homes.

The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index climbed 9.3% in the 12 months ending in February. That’s up from an 8.1% gain in January.

Annual prices rose in all 20 cities for the second month in a row, the first time that has happened since early 2005. Detroit prices rose 15.2%. Phoenix recorded the biggest annual gain, with prices rising 23%. Prices jumped nearly 19% in San Francisco.

Eleven of the 20 cities reported price gains in February compared with January. Detroit’s prices dropped 0.6%. Those monthly numbers are not seasonally adjusted and reflect the slower winter buying period.

The twilight of entitlement

We are passing through something more than a period of disappointing economic growth and increasing political polarization. What’s happening is more powerful: the collapse of “entitlement.”

By this, I do not mean primarily cuts in specific government benefits, most prominently Social Security, but the demise of a broader mind-set — attitudes and beliefs — that, in one form or another, has gripped Americans since the 1960s.

We expected almost limitless personal freedom and self-fulfillment. For those who couldn’t live life to its fullest (as a result of old age, disability, or bad luck), we expected a generous social safety net to guarantee decent lives.

We blurred the distinction between progress and perfection.

No more.

Millions of Americans who have “played by the rules” are in distress or fear that they might be. In a new survey, 65 percent of respondents said today’s middle class has less “job and financial security” than their parents’ generation; 52 percent asserted there is less “opportunity to get ahead.”

We’ll never really be able to retire. Just keep getting beat-up until we die. Retirement? That’s an ENTITLEMENT! BAD!!!

The middle class is “more anxious than aspirational,” concluded the poll’s sponsors. Similarly, the Employee Benefit Research Institute found that only 51 percent of workers are confident they’ll have enough money to retire comfortably, down from 70 percent in 2007.

In the post-entitlement era, people’s expectations may be more grounded.

But political conflicts — who gets, who gives — and social resentments will be, as they already are, sharper. Entitlement implied an almost-limitless future. Facing limits is a contentious exercise in making choices.

Why? BECAUSE THAT’S THE WAY WE ARE!

It can cause us to be crazier than “normal”

Whenever I hear someone describe themselves, or others as “crazy”, I always reply with:

“We’re all crazy. It’s just that most of us bother to hide it from others and don’t act on our craziness.”

I’m not impressed by some idiot trying to get my attention by telling me how crazy they are.

WE’RE ALL CRAZY.

That’s one of the things that makes the world go ’round.

One of the craziest things we do is completely believing in fairy tales. You know….

“The world is a beautiful place, full of good people and beauty. Full of goodness and goodwill towards men.”

While that might be true, it also contains streets made of cold, hard concrete. Ugly streets full of ugly people who will shaft you for a nickel. People who are cruel because they enjoy being cruel.

Look for beauty

So…..

Your outlook depends on what you look for when you venture out into the world each day.

Do you look for beauty? Or do you look for the darker and uglier side of the world?

An ideal mix, I suppose, would be to look for beauty and to always be aware of the ugliness that exists out there. That way, your world isn’t shattered when you’re exposed to just how ugly the world can be.

Why does ugliness and evil exist?

Because we’re human and all crazy. Some of us are not crazy in a “good way”. Some people are just plain evil crazy. Watch out for those people.

Of course, these are all lessons we should have learned growing up.

As kids, we’re innocent. Then, reality sets in

As kids, we believe the fairy tales and as we age, we begin to realize there isn’t always a happy ending. Sometimes you don’t live “Happily ever after.”

But, we still hope at least part of our fairy tales remain true.

That’s why when some idiot, or group of idiots commit a crime (such as the Marathon bombing) so heinous that we can’t seem to wrap our heads around the evil of it all, we ask the question:

WHY?……

I read this today and thought I’d repost it here……..

“Why?” My questions is this…. Why do we always want to know “Why?”

What possible reason could make bombing and killing innocents acceptable? Asking “Why” gives validity to whatever argument these scumbags have rattling around in their skulls.

Why? Because sometimes our fairy tales can go horribly wrong and since there’s no rhyme or reason for it, we search for an explanation when there isn’t one. People are just crazy

How many times have you personally watched a situation unfolding where innocents are slaughtered and the “compassionate” among us and the media asks “Why?”.

Once that happens we see a progression of excuses and allowances made for a person or a groups actions.

I do not care that these two boys are possibly of the Muslim faith, I do not care if they are terrorists, I do not care if it is a father that abuses his child or wife, I do not care that it is a mother that allows her child to starve to feed her drug habit.

The only thing I can see these people have in common, all of these abusers, rapists, murderers and terrorists, is that they are all narcissists in that they believe their own thoughts, feelings, world view or religion is more important than anyone else’s right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Is this the only way to eliminate craziness in the gene pool? Heck, we’d all get a turn

Screw them all. I do not want to know why. Put them down like the rabid dog they are, turn off the cameras and never mention their names again. Cremate them and spread their ashes in the holding tanks of a sewage plant.

End of story.
This is my opinion and of course will be dissected and spit upon and I really don’t care.

Want to know “Why?”? Because anyone that would make ANY kind of excuse for someone or some group guilty of killing or abusing of innocents is a part of the problem and not part of the solution and thus a waste of my time.

Cispa bill on cyber security passed by the US House

Getting closer every day. But, we’ll be SAFER!

The US House of Representatives has passed the controversial Cyber Information Sharing and Protection Act.

Cispa is designed to help combat cyberthreats by making it easier for law enforcers to get at web data.

This is the second time Cispa has been passed by the House. Senators threw out the first draft, saying it did not do enough to protect privacy.

Cispa could fail again in the Senate after threats from President Obama to veto it over privacy concerns.

A substantial majority of politicians in the House backed the bill.

The law is passing through the US legislative system as American federal agencies warn that malicious hackers, motivated by money or acting on behalf of foreign governments, such as China, are one of the biggest threats facing the nation.

“If you want to take a shot across China’s bow, this is the answer,” said Mike Rogers, the Republican politician who co-wrote Cispa and chairs the House Intelligence Committee.

Keep believing the fairy tales! But, don’t listen to me. I’m a conspiracy “nut”! You know….CRAZY

Cispa has also secured the backing of several technology firms, including the CTIA wireless industry group, as well as the TechNet computer industry lobby group, which has Google, Apple and Yahoo as members. By contrast, the social news website Reddit has been vocal in its opposition to the bill. In March, Facebook said it no longer supported Cispa.

The bill could fail again in the Senate after the Obama administration’s threat to use its veto unless changes were made. The White House wants amendments so more is done to ensure the minimum amount of data is handed over in investigations.

The American Civil Liberties Union has also opposed Cispa, saying the bill was “fatally flawed”. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, Reporters Without Borders and the American Library Association have all voiced similar worries.

Cispa’s authors say existing amendments have addressed many of the criticisms and more oversight was being given to data before it was handed over.

IRS tells agents it can snoop on emails without warrant, internal documents show

The Internal Revenue Service believes it doesn’t need permission to root through emails, texts or other forms of electronic correspondence, according to recently released internal agency documents.

Is it when they’ve proven themselves detrimental to the well-being of society?

The documents, which were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by the American Civil Liberties Union, reveal that tax department agents have been operating under the assumption that they can bypass warrants. The ACLU claims this would in turn violate the Fourth Amendment.

According to a 2009 IRS employee handbook, though, the tax agency said the Fourth Amendment does not protect emails because Internet users don’t “have a reasonable expectation of privacy in such communications.”

A lawyer for the agency reiterated the policy in 2010. And the current online version of the IRS manual says that no warrant is required for emails that are stored by an Internet storage provider for more than 180 days.

Gun vote shows gulf between Washington, country

After the proposal to expand background checks as a part of gun legislation failed to win enough votes in the Senate Wednesday, President Obama expressed his disappointment and said this is “only the beginning” to pushing for reform.

If there was ever a moment that symbolized the difference between the power of public opinion and the strength of a concerted minority, it came Wednesday when the Senate defeated a bipartisan measure to expand background checks on gun purchases.

By the time the vote took place, the outcome was expected. Obama’s description — “a pretty shameful day for Washington” — captured the moment and summed up the frustrations that many ordinary Americans long have expressed about the capital, which is that the system appears tilted in favor of blocking action on important, if controversial, issues rather than enacting legislation to deal with them.

It was a defeat as well for the victims’ relatives, men and women who have walked the halls of Congress and spoken out passionately for action.

Two female Long Island teachers pulled from classroom for ‘inappropriate contact with football player and wrestler’

Here’s one of the tarts now! Maybe we can get Homeland Security on it?

Sources told the New York Post that the girlfriend of one of the high school students found a text from a teacher on his phone.

The girlfriend then alerted the school’s principal, John Dolan, the sources said.

The Post notes that it’s unclear whether Newton-McNally and Ackerberg actually engaged in physical behavior with the two seniors, or if they exchanged inappropriate text messages.

Police in Suffolk County have not been contacted, as both the students in question are over the age of consent.

Students told the Post that they were shocked that their two teachers could have engaged in inappropriate behavior with the two students.

‘It’s just hard to believe this stuff goes on,’ one student tweeted. ‘I’m really hoping that there isn’t anything and it’s chatter.’

Both of the students, who sources say are a wrestler and a football player, both have girlfriends, sources said.

I’ve been half-heartedly following the “Gays in the Boy Scouts” stories for awhile and I’ve never been able to understand the root causes of all the homophobia that seems to grip our country. Is it because homophobic people are actually repressed homosexuals who have been denying their biological instincts all their lives?

I mean, think about it.

They can have all the guys they want. I’ll take Kari Byron and her GUNZ!

I’ve ALWAYS wished that 90% of the male population was GAY AS LIBERACE!

It certainly would have given a wart-hog like me a much better chance with the ladies “back in the day”!!

But, enough pontificating.

I’ve got yardwork to do.

The Sex, Violence and Gays will just have to wait for me another day.

In the meantime….

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?

Another weekend down and it’s time to get started on another week.

Tomorrow marks the 148^th anniversary of the surrender of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia by General Lee to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House.

If they’re even aware of this fact, most people fail to realize that it wasn’t really the end of a “civil” war. It was actually the end of the American Revolutionary War.

You see….

Most revolutions do not end cleanly.

There are always factions among the revolutionaries who will quarrel with each other over who will ultimately rule the roost.

Thousands, if not millions more die in the ensuing struggle.

It just took America longer to get to fighting with each other.

One “side” had finally had “enough” of what they thought of as being pushed around by the other “side”.

Never mind that one system favored actual slavery while the other side favored another form of slavery cloaked in the mantle of “freedom”.

Never mind that once again, the poor man fought the rich man’s war.

Never mind that the American Civil War never really ended in 1865 and that it just descended into a Cold War where, even today, we still fight amongst ourselves.

Yet, at least the slaves were freed and that’s a good thing that came out of the shooting war.

So…….

If and when we’ve finally had “enough” in this modern age……

What will our next revolution look like? Will we form coalitions to attack our current government and if successful, will we then fight another Civil War?

I think not. The time for violent revolution is past.

A new revolution would just get ruthlessly crushed unless the revolutionaries were able to secure help from a strong outside source.

Our “freedom” is always for sale to the highest bidder

Then what?

We’ll have replaced one form of government with whatever form of government the “helpers” want us to have, and nothing will really change.

The Banksters would still be in control.

So, when will we decide “enough is enough” and what can we do to keep the maggot banksters from returning to feed on our new society?

What can we do to prevent any country that would help a 2nd American Revolution from surreptitiously installing their “approved” new form of government?

When will we have enough of this crap?

Those are two questions we need to answer before we blindly strike out into the unknown.

As long as we allow the media to keep us fighting a “cold war” amongst ourselves, we will NEVER succeed in our ultimate goal of securing equal rights for every individual.

WE NEED TO STOP BELIEVING WHAT THE MEDIA TELLS US TO BELIEVE!

I will believe we’ve finally decided “enough is enough” when I look at the hit counter for this page and see that the words:

A 45-year-old assistant high school principal in Hemet was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual battery and other crimes involving three boys who attend the school.

The three boys are students at the school, but none of the alleged acts occurred on campus, police said in a statement.

She was also arrested on suspicion of oral copulation, abnormal sexual interest in children and sending inappropriate or harmful matter via an electronic device.

I must admit I was surprised by this email and the fact that The Huffington Post staff would be so blatantly in favor of more government control over “We, the People”.

After giving it some thought, this was my reply to the editors over at HuffPo:

Hello,

I’m afraid this probably isn’t what you were looking for.

Twice in my life, guns have saved me. Once in self defense against burglars and once in defense of my cattle against a pack of wild dogs. I am 57 years old and by the time you and the State have dismantled the Constitution and condemned us to an Orwellian nightmare where it is thought that only the State should be allowed to own firearms and have freedom of speech, I’ll be dead.

Don’t you understand this?

So, do what you will.

It is sad that we’ve become a nation so easily swayed by the media and their corporate masters on Wall Street.

It’s sad that we’ve become a nation that’s more afraid of it’s own citizens than we are of our rights being taken away one by one.

It’s sad that we think government CONTROL is the norm now, and the way it should be.

Shouldn’t we be more worried about drone control, Gitmo, The Military Industrial Complex, The Prison Industrial Complex and the continuing loss of our rights than we are about gun control being imposed on the law abiding citizens of our country?

We discovered just how much our right to free speech and the right to protest meant to the government.

They know damn well that criminals and gangs will not surrender their guns and that any gun control laws enacted will only affect law-abiding citizens.

They know damn well that any extra “fees” imposed on the sale of permits, licenses, ammunition, and firearms will only be a thinly veiled tax on the citizenry.

Broke and ashamed: Many won’t take handouts despite need

“See kids? Asking for help is BAD!”

Ashyle Horton had volunteered in the past for the program that runs the University of Arkansas campus food pantry, but showing up as a client was an entirely different experience.

“I was very fearful and nervous,” said Horton, 22. “It felt so weird going to a food pantry to get help.”

The graduating senior says she desperately needed the pasta, rice and other staples on the food bank shelves, but she worried that others might judge her, that they would think she ought to be able to get by on her own.

“I never thought that I would be struggling as much as I have this year,” said Horton, whose already-stretched income dropped abruptly when her hours were cut at the disability services agency where she works.

Suddenly, she found herself among the 50 million people in the U.S. who live in food-insecure households each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Pushing past the stigma of need was a hurdle for Horton — as it is for many who find themselves in that situation, says Angela Oxford, director for the Fayetteville school’s Center for Community Engagement.

But, don’t worry about poverty or having enough to eat. Don’t worry about the destruction of our planet in the name of profit. THE FAGGOTS ARE COMING AND THEY’RE GOING TO TAKE AWAY OUR GUNZ!

“There is a stigma in that people just want to be able to take care of themselves,” Oxford said. “People don’t want to have to get assistance.”

Across the U.S., safety-net programs aimed at reaching the nearly 1 in 7 Americans living in poverty struggle to reach those in need. Food stamp enrollment climbed to record levels following the recent recession, with nearly 48 million participants in December 2012.

Still, 1 in 4 people who are eligible for food stamps don’t sign up, on average, the USDA says. Participation drops sharply in certain subgroups, as well. Only 34 percent of seniors and 60 percent of working poor households who could receive food stamps actually do, the USDA says.

That’s largely because of the perceived shame of taking a hand-out, researchers say.

“Stigma seems to be a big barrier to participation,” said Colleen Flaherty Manchester, an assistant professor of management at the University of Minnesota who studies the issue. “We find it to be quite substantial.”

In fact, psychological barriers appear to be three times greater than time costs — the effort and hassle it takes to enroll — in determining whether people seek benefits, Manchester said.

“I think it has to do with feelings of reduced self-efficacy, reduced self-esteem, psychological pressure from going against the social norm,” she said.

For Ashyle Horton, her need for the food pantry may end with graduation this spring. She has applied for City Year, a national service program, and she hopes to pursue a master’s degree after that. But her months of accepting pasta and rice from the pantry have given her more empathy for others in that situation, she says.

“I don’t like to tell people when I’m in need,” she said. “I like to help other people.”

We’ve been assured yet again that our government will keep running (yawn) and that our Medicare and SS checks won’t bounce.

SO WHAT?

Maybe we’re becoming immune to the news.

So much goes on that we can’t possibly process it all. Heck, I have a hard enough time worrying about buying enough gas and 2-cycle mix for my chainsaw so that I can cut firewood and avoid freezing.

Hell, at least we live in a FREE COUNTRY!

Even if it’s the same kind of freedom that allows a kid to tell the school thugs “No” when they demand his lunch money. He’s free to get his ass kicked and robbed regardless of his choice.

We’ve all heard the typical redneck argument: “If it’s so bad here, why are all them Messicans trying to get in?”….and I’m sick of it.

To me, that’s akin to asking someone who sustained 2nd degree burns on their genitals if they’ rather have had 3rd degree burns.

But anyway….

If any of you were wondering if the government was going to shut down anytime soon….

House approves resolution to keep the government running; bill heads to White House

Here’s one of those hucksters now, looking as if she’s getting ready for yet another “money shot” from Jamie Dimon and Wall Street!

Congress has approved a short-term funding measure, averting the chance of an agency shutdown next week. But a broader battle over taxes and spending for the year is only just beginning.

The House gave final approval Thursday on a broad bipartisan 318 to 109 vote to a continuing funding resolution that outlines spending through the Sept. 30 conclusion of the fiscal year. It assures that the government will stay open when the funding measure now supporting it expires March 27.

The House vote came a day after the Senate also signed off the bill. It now goes to President Obama for his signature, ending a relatively smooth and drama-free process for a Congress that has repeatedly deadlocked on spending issues.

But it covers only the next six months. Lawmakers are still debating how much to tax and spend for the years to come.

Michele Bachmann tested CNN correspondent Dana Bash’s speed on Tuesday when she tried to duck questions about some false claims she made during her recent speech to the CPAC conference.

“She literally raced away from our Dana Bash,” Anderson Cooper told viewers on his show.

Bachmann made comments about the supposedly lavish lifestyle Obama leads inside the White House during her speech at CPAC, slamming the professional dog walker and multiple chefs she said were being paid with taxpayer money.

“The claims of $1.4 billion in White House perks and excess, they fail on the facts in simple fairness.”

Retirement crisis ahead for boomers and Gen Xers

With most workers having less than $25,000 in total savings, Americans are headed for a dismal old age. And many ‘have their heads in the sand.

“You couldn’t save enough, Grandpa! Here’s your reward for a lifetime of hard work!”

It’s often said that getting old isn’t for sissies, but baby boomers and Gen Xers may find that’s an understatement.

Americans aren’t saving enough to retire, with 57% of U.S. workers reporting less than $25,000 in total household savings and investments, excluding their homes

Even worse, the study found fewer workers are actually putting money aside for retirement, with only 57% saying they’re currently saving, down from 65% in 2009, the study found.

“Be sure to put some food aside for when you retire, citizen!”

It’s not something that workers are unconcerned about, however, as 28% said they have no confidence they’ll be able to retire comfortably, up from 23% just last year.

“With baby boomers and Gen Xers, 44% of them will run short of money in retirement,” Jack VanDerhei, the research director at EBRI, told MSN Money.

“Forty-one percent of people in the lowest income quartile will run short of money within the first decade of retirement.”

Nearly Half of Americans Have More Credit Card Debt Than Savings

Who would’ve ever guessed the slaves of the 21st century would be shackled in plastic chains?

Only 55 percent of Americans have more in emergency savings than they have in credit card debt, according to a survey by Bankrate.com.

This is the third time Bankrate.com has asked survey participants which they hold in higher quantity: credit card debt or emergency savings.

This year’s figure has shifted little from the previous two years. In 2012, 54 percent of Americans said they had more in emergency savings than credit card debt. In 2011, it was 52 percent.

Bolshoi ballet was ‘giant brothel’ claims former dancer

The Bolshoi Ballet has been mired in further controversy after a former soloist claimed female dancers were forced to sleep with wealthy patrons.

Anastasia Volochkova accused the theatre’s general director of turning the company “into a giant brothel”.

Outspoken Volochkova, who has dabbled in TV talent and talk shows, was fired from the Bolshoi in 2003 for being too heavy.

General director Anatoly Iksanov dismissed the claims as “ravings”.

Volochkova made the allegations during an interview on a television talk show in Russia on Sunday, later repeating them in a radio interview with Russian News Service.

“It mainly happened with the corps du ballet but also with the soloists,” she said.

“The girls were forced to go along to grand dinners and given advance warning that afterwards they would be expected to go to bed and have sex,” she alleged.

Men in America would NEVER use their positions of influence and power to screw beautiful women, would they?

“When the girls asked: ‘What happens if we refuse?’, they were told that they would not go on tour or even perform at the Bolshoi theatre. Can you imagine?”

Free to move around the country and maybe starve? Maybe to find out the grass isn’t any greener on the other side?

Define “freedom”. If you have a legitimate grievance and the “powers that be” won’t listen and don’t care, is THAT freedom of speech?

READ THE FINE PRINT

Most of us KNOW this is a lie

Have you ever wished that your parents had been able to better equip you for life when you were growing up?

But that would be too easy.

Most of us are too stubborn to learn from the mistakes of others.

Oh, no.

We’ve got to learn our own cold hard lessons.

Besides, our parents were just muddling through life too. Kids don’t come with an instruction manual.

Anyway, what I’m getting at is most parents will at least try to teach their kids to watch out for liars and con-men, but they usually fail to teach a kid to also be able to recognize the half-truth.

Oh, yeah. It cures drunkenness alright, and makes your mate more docile. So, it’s the truth. What they don’t say is the main active ingredient is a large dose of MORPHINE

The deception.

The middle ground between truth and falsehood.

The purposely leaving out of important details.

The traps.

THE FINE PRINT.

You know….

The 47 pages of cautions that come with your prescription. The 15 pages of crap that comes with just about every “user agreement” on computer programs.

And so on forever…..

All the crap that makes us feel daily as if we’re a swashbuckler having to fight off the 50 evil sword fighters that are constantly trying to stab at us.

“Hope and change” my ass. Same as it ever was

Maybe it’s a cultural phenom where deception has become an accepted part of the game. We (and the “powers that be”) have learned that it isn’t the out and out obvious lie that’s dangerous.

Just as we’ve gotten good at spotting lies, we’re having to become experts at spotting deceptions.

You can argue that deceptions and lies are one and the same, but are they?

Case in point….

We’re being deceived by the media in this Nation without them ever having to actually baldface lie to us. Stories that actually matter are either buried in the “fine print” somewhere on page 5, or are completely ignored by all except the local news stations.

Here’s the Pope (the champion of the poor) leaving the Vatican for the last time in his private “Pope-Copter”. This is news?

What gets the most airtime today is what used to be called the “filler” items, reserved for a slow news day.

And, just like the “fine print” pamphlets that come with your prescriptions, there are side-effects associated with this method of news reporting.

May cause confusion. May cause distraction. May cause abnormal excitation and agitation. MAY CAUSE BLINDNESS.

When I was in the hospital having heart surgery, the doctors put me on a drug they all said was necessary for my well-being. It’s designed to regulate heartbeat. Being the curious sort, I asked the nurse to give me the information sheet for the drug.

Jennifer Lawrence made the “news” for giving “the finger” to some people at the Oscars. Isn’t that news?

It was long and tedious, but it all boiled down to:

“May cause confusion. May cause distraction. May cause abnormal excitation and agitation. MAY CAUSE BLINDNESS.”

I called the nurse over and told her to take the IV out of my arm, so she called the doctor over. He told me the drug was necessary and that I could die without it.

I refused the drug. I would rather be dead than be stuck having to go through life blind, confused, distracted and agitated.

The doctor wasn’t lying. I could have died without the drug, but I decided the side-effects weren’t worth it.

And, teach your children to do the same.

Otherwise they’ll be fair game for every half-truth teller and huckster that comes around.…..

And they’ll go through life blind, confused, distracted and agitated.

Rodman, the highest-profile American to meet Kim since he inherited power from father Kim Jong Il in 2011, watched a basketball game with the authoritarian leader Thursday and later drank and dined on sushi with him.

At Pyongyang’s Sunan airport on his way to Beijing, Rodman said it was “amazing” that the North Koreans were “so honest.” He added that Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung, North Korea’s founder, “were great leaders.”

Why do we even pay attention to or care what celebrities think?

I don’t get it.

Why is it important what Dennis Rodman or Jane Fonda thinks? Maybe it’s because we’re told it’s important. Maybe it’s because it buries the “fine print”

Do we think someone who makes it big is suddenly graced by the “good fairy” with a special dispensation that makes them only shit vanilla ice-cream and so, therefore, what they say or do is way more important than what we all say or do?

THEY’RE USED BY THE MEDIA TO DISTRACT YOU AWAY FROM REALITY AND THE IMPORTANT STORIES OUT THERE.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Radioactive waste tanks may be leaking some 1,000 gallons per year at Hanford Nuclear Reservation, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said Wednesday officials are still evaluating how to effectively remove the remaining material from the problematic tanks.

The 1,000-gallon figure is a rough estimate based on the early assessment of six identified leakers. Inslee said the leakage numbers are still being evaluated to determine exactly how much has been lost and how fast the waste is leaving the tanks.

Inslee said there’s no available technology to plug the leaks, so federal and state officials are working to find the best available solution to remove the sludge. Inslee said that solution could come in weeks or months.

OH MY GOD! You mean there’s QUEERS in our High Schools? That’s much more important to worry about than radiation getting into our groundwater!

“We want to find the most expeditious way to get this job done,” Inslee said.

Hanford has 177 aging tanks that store millions of gallons of radioactive sludge. Inslee said faulty data analysis meant officials did not properly catch signs of leaking before now, and Inslee expressed concern about the other tanks at the reservation.

Federal officials say there is no immediate threat to public safety and that they have not detected any discernible change in contamination levels in monitoring wells.

Leakage has been a problem in the past, with an estimated 1 million gallons of radioactive liquid having already leaked, but the tanks were believed to have been stabilized in 2005.

Here’s another “good one” buried in the “fine print” that is a side-effect of a sick and distracted society:

On Purposely Getting Arrested, to Get Life-Saving Surgery

A 41-year-old man who had been incarcerated came to see me recently. While in prison he got in a fight, which led to a CT scan. He hadn’t broken anything, but the scan did surreptitiously show two aneurysms. Both were in his hepatic artery (the artery that feeds his liver).

Don’t pay attention to the REAL stories that are buried deep. Pay attention to the DISTRACTIONS!

They were small, so the doctors kept an eye on the aneurysms without doing surgery. But the next time they checked, they had nearly doubled in size.

He was referred to a surgeon at a different hospital than the one I work at, and underwent an angiogram, to see the aneurysms better. The surgeons there said that he was sure to die if they did not intervene, and that they should schedule a surgery within the coming weeks.

Fortunately for him (or so he thought) he was released from prison one week later. When he returned for his pre-op visit, though, he was told that since he’d been released from prison, he no longer had insurance to cover the operation.

He asked what he should do. The told him to figure out how to get insurance.

I think this patient would be the first to admit that he had made numerous mistakes in his life. And he had paid a significant price for them. He truly was ready to make changes, to live positively, to help those around him. But, not knowing what else to to, it occurred to him that the easiest way to get the care he needed would be to get back in prison.

Admit it. Isn’t it easier to conform, read about Rodman, look at naked clowns, and try not to think too deeply about things that affect our lives than it is to read the fine print? IT’S EASIER TO JUST TAKE THE PILL

The next week, he went to a department store and, making sure a security guard saw him, pocketed some moisturizing cream.

He looked up at the guard, smiled, and walked out.

After he was arrested, he wrote a note to the judge saying that he needed to get back into prison for a year, to get an operation.

He told me the judge said “I’ll give you 14 months, go get your surgery.”

Have we been wrong all these years?

I’ve been hearing “Who gives a damn?” more often lately when I discuss current events and politics with young people I know.

The last time I mentioned “Occupy” in a conversation, I was told: “Who cares? People are sick of Occupy. It’s old news.”

There’s too many distractions going on around us for us to focus on the issues. Instead, it’s as if we’re becoming a nation of ADHD addled idiots and it seems as if we like it that way.

Immediate gratification and a short attention span is the norm these days.

This photo of Maggie Trudeau (First Lady of Canada) caused a small scandal in the late 60s. Could you imagine the media circus if the media got a photo such as this of Michelle Obama today?

We get fed a steady diet of bullshit news that doesn’t matter, yet it’s dressed up by the media as if it’s important.

We’re allowing ourselves to be stupefied.

Most of us spend much of our time being so distracted by the meaningless shit in life that we forget to live our own life as it happens and we miss it.

Anyway, that’s the end of the sermon for today.

Not-so-golden years: Over 75, burdened by debt

The golden years are supposed to be a time when you can live off the wealth you’ve accumulated over a lifetime, not feel like you have to take on more debt to make ends meet.

But new research shows that Americans ages 75 and over appear to have grown more burdened by debt in recent years, and experts say a likely culprit is medical expenses.

What a surprise! Don’t people realize that today’s system is designed to bleed a person as dry as possible before they’re kicked to the curb?

It’s not just medical expenses.

It’s also the upward spiraling high cost of living that keeps going skyward every year you’re alive.

What seemed to be a good pension or retirement fund 30 years ago doesn’t even amount to a poverty-level allowance these days.

A new analysis of government data, released earlier this month by the Employee Benefit Research Institute, found that between 2007 and 2010 people who are 75 and older were more likely to have debt, and their average debt levels increased significantly.

All I can say is if I’m lucky enough to make it to 75 and if my wife goes before I do, the credit companies had better just watch out.

By the time I’m reading this book, I won’t care about my credit rating OR my debt load!

I just wonder how many of those debt ridden over 75′s out there still think they live in the greatest country in the world and dismissed the Occupiers as “dirty hippies“ when Zuccotti Park was in fashion?

I wonder how many of them will still blame whoever happens to be the President when they hit their decrepitude, instead of blaming a SYSTEM THAT IS DESIGNED TO WRING EVERY LAST DROP OF BLOOD OUT OF YOU in the name of maximum profit?

I wonder how many of them will say: “I thought I’d adequately prepared for my retirement years, but found out I wasn’t expecting the cost of EVERYTHING to go up so high” when some smug asshole tells them:

This is how I feel when some asshole starts talking about “poor decisions in life”!

“You made poor decisions in life and you should’ve saved more and prepared more“?

HOW CAN YOU SAVE WHEN IT TAKES EVERY STINKING DIME YOU MAKE JUST TO KEEP YOUR HEAD ABOVE WATER?

I’m not talking about “the little extras” and “luxuries”. I’m talking about SURVIVAL. Rent, food, clothes, transportation, etc.

But, oh well…..

Why should we give a damn?

Because, someday we’ll all be that old and if things keep going the way they are going, there will be no more “dirty hippies” left to care enough to help you out.

JPMorgan Chase to cut up to 4,000 jobs in 2013

JPMorgan Chase & Co plans to cut 3,000 to 4,000 jobs in its consumer bank in 2013, representing about 1.5 percent of the company’s overall workforce, as the bank tries to improve the profitability of its branches.

Here’s those bank employees before the layoffs were announced welcoming Jamie Dimon when he walked in to the room

The cuts will come mainly through attrition, spokeswoman Kristin Lemkau said. The bank’s branches have 63,500 employees, representing about a quarter of JPMorgan Chase’s total employees.

JPMorgan is one of the few big U.S. banks that is still adding branches to its network, but…

to boost profit it plans to scale back the tellers it has on hand for routine transactions…..

and to add some salespeople for products and services like wealth management that can boost revenue.

The net effect will be to reduce staff per branch by 20 percent through 2015, the company’s head of consumer banking, Ryan McInerney, said in a presentation to investors.

In JPMorgan Chase’s mortgage business, the company reiterated its previously announced plans to shed 13,000 to 15,000 jobs by 2014.

The bank is hoping to focus on selling more to wealthy depositors.

South Africa study finds donkey meat sold as beef

Truth in advertising? It’s a thing of the past. Deception is what’s now in vogue

A study published by the local Stellenbosch University found that 99 of 139 samples contained species not declared in the product label.

It found soya and gluten were not labelled in 28% of products tested, undeclared pork in 37% and chicken in 23%

This was mostly in sausages, burger patties and deli meats, it said.

The disclosure comes at a time of a growing scandal in Europe about horsemeat being sold as beef.

On Monday, Swedish company Ikea withdrew meatballs from sale in 14 European countries after tests in the Czech Republic found traces of horsemeat in a batch made in Sweden.

Leading supermarkets in the UK, including Tesco and Sainsbury, have also withdrawn beef products from shelves after they were found to contain horsemeat.

6 Leaking Tanks Are Hanford Nuke Site’s Latest Woe

“IT’S PERFECTLY SAFE. THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM”

Federal and state officials say six underground tanks holding a brew of radioactive and toxic waste are leaking at the country’s most contaminated nuclear site in south-central Washington, raising concerns about delays for emptying the aging tanks.

The leaking materials at Hanford Nuclear Reservation pose no immediate risk to public safety or the environment because it would take perhaps years for the chemicals to reach groundwater, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said Friday.

But the news has renewed discussion over delays for emptying the tanks, which were installed decades ago and are long past their intended 20-year life span.

“None of these tanks would be acceptable for use today. They are all beyond their design life.”

“None of them should be in service,” said Tom Carpenter of Hanford Challenge, a Hanford watchdog group.

“And yet, they’re holding two-thirds of the nation’s high-level nuclear waste.”
