SCREW THE POOR! I WANT IT ALL!

Fasten your seatbelts (or, sit on a trailer hitch and pucker hard, for all I care today)

I haven’t updated in awhile for a couple of reasons.

First, I got really sick. I’m not talking about the sniffles or something you can “work through.” I’m talking the laid up kind of sick where you don’t care if you live or die for a few days.

I’m still at about 40% of my normal self.

Second, I was, and am, plain disgusted with it all.

Just before I fell ill, I was talking to a group of people about the effects of the “sequester” on the poor, and how we’re lied to by our government with them constantly fudging statistics to shed a favorable light on the unemployment rate and the rates of poverty here in America.

We haven’t got a prayer. Who knows this? The “dirty hippie”, of course!

Keep in mind, these were lower middle-class and poor people I was talking to. Most of which WILL be affected when the government gets around to screwing them so that their owners on Wall Street will continue to reap the rewards.

What did I hear?

“We live in the greatest country in the world”.

And:

You must be a commie. Weren’t you an “occupier” too?

The people that I thought agreed with me said NOTHING.

THEY JUST STOOD THERE NODDING THEIR HEADS.

So, fuck them. Fuck them all.

I’m getting too old and sick for this shit of trying to help and inform people who would rather continue to get bent over.

Meals on Wheels budget cuts: ‘Slowly developing crisis’

Who needs social programs when we still have people who can afford yoga classes? BEND OVER! Ladies….You do know that most guys don’t take yoga classes entirely for their health, don’t you?

Air traffic controllers got a reprieve from federal budget cuts when Congress felt public pressure after airport delays inconvenienced travelers.

But few expect a pardon for Meals on Wheels, which provide food and human contact for people over 60 who are physically housebound, socially isolated or very low income — and in many cases, all three.

“They don’t have high-priced lobbyists,” said Alan Winstead, the executive director of Meals on Wheels of Wake County in Raleigh, N.C.

As it is, Meals on Wheels is estimated to serve just a third or so of the 25 million people over 60 who are poor or near poor.

Federal funding for Meals on Wheels and related nutrition services accounted for 0.02% of the U.S. budget last year. This year, the programs will have to do with roughly $38.7 million less because of the so-called sequester, which requires uniform cuts across programs regardless of cost effectiveness.

There may be millions more poor people in the US than you think

It is responsible for an estimated half-trillion dollars in federal spending every year, is hated by nearly everyone who studies it and is based on an American lifestyle older than the space program.

Yet the figure known as the “poverty line” is almost certainly here to stay. That’s partly because a more accurate measure of who is poor could add millions of Americans to the rolls — something few lawmakers want to have happen on their watch.

“People (are) talking about eliminating poverty in this country,” said Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., whose proposal to change the measure died in Congress five years ago. “You’re not going to eliminate poverty in this country with the definition we have. You can make yourself feel good, but you’re not going to eliminate poverty.”

But, UNIONS ARE BAD!!!

The poverty line was conceived by a civil servant named Mollie Orshansky who worked for the Social Security Administration and was herself the daughter of poor Ukrainian immigrants. She totaled up the cost of the cheapest three-meals-a-day plan that the federal government considered nutritionally adequate in 1963.

A decade earlier, the Eisenhower administration had calculated that the typical family spent a third of its money on food. So Orshansky multiplied by three. It was that simple. The poverty line was born.

The problem, as social scientists and at least some legislators see it, is that measuring poverty that way is not just outdated but simplistic:

The federal poverty line — $11,945 in cash income for a single adult, $23,283 for a couple with two kids — is the same whether you are poor in New York, the most expensive city in the United States, or poor in a small town in Nebraska.

“GET A JOB, YA BUMS. FIND A JOB IN THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY!”

It is the same whether you take transit to work or are hostage to the whims of gas prices. It is the same whether Medicaid helps you with medical expenses or you pay out of pocket. It is the same whether you receive food stamps or pay for child care.

It is the same regardless of how poor you are. For the purposes of some federal benefits, someone making a dollar below the poverty line is treated the same is someone making virtually nothing.

“There are better ways to measure,” said Robert Haveman, a professor of economics and public policy at the University of Wisconsin and an expert on poverty. “Nearly any one of them is a better indicator of true poverty than the one we use.”

Among them: Food stamps, anti-poverty block grants for cities, heating and air-conditioning aid, AIDS drug subsidies, family planning services, Head Start and job-finding assistance.

The Census Bureau, which is responsible for updating the poverty line every year to account for inflation, makes no secret of its flaws as a way to determine who qualifies as poor.

Two years ago, the bureau and the Labor Department agreed on a different way — a poverty line that accounts for medical expenses, geographic differences, the cost of shelter and clothing and other factors.

Back to my question: Want to end poverty in America? Use the “Stalin Method”

Completely eliminate food stamps, anti-poverty block grants for cities, heating and air-conditioning aid, AIDS drug subsidies, family planning services, Head Start and job-finding assistance.

Problem solved!

And we can all live together in peace & harmony!

No more poor people!

Why do I get the feeling many, if not most people in this country (and on Wall Street and in DC) would be perfectly ok with this solution?

Just think…..

I READ THE NEWS TODAY (oh, boy!)

Stop watching and start reading!

I think, in America, more and more people are beginning to realize the Mainstream Media has become nothing more than entertainment channels.

Little more than “bread and circuses for the masses.”

Even the old tried and true reporters on these networks are losing it.

The other day, I was at a friend’s house watching the news when the Boston bomber was captured.

Wolf Blitzer was reporting and the “reporter on the scene” told Wolf:

“They have him cornered.”

Wolf replied:

“They have who cornered?”

I started laughing and shouted at the television…..

“They have the bloody Lucky Charms leprechaun cornered and they’re gonna steal his Lucky Charms! Who in the hell do you think they have cornered, Wolf?!”

They finally got the bastard!

I must be a joy to my neighbors when they have me over to watch TV.

That being said…..

Did anybody notice a little thing called May Day yesterday?

It was buried under stories of Lohan’s rehab and Paltrow’s panties on all the big networks.

Mostly, you had to go to the alternative and local news webpages to fine a mention of it.

May Day rallies and strikes

Millions took to the streets to take part in May 1 demonstrations around the globe. From union rallies to protests and clashes with police, the International Labor Day events drew attention to the issues of austerity, unemployment and workers rights.

Seattle Police Department confirmed the continued usage of pepper spray. One journalist reported being hit.

Police clad in riot gear and officers using their police bikes as shields attempt to rout and disperse protesters through downtown Seattle.

Local TV broadcaster KIRO depicted scenes of flash bombs and several demonstrators hit with pepper spray.

Thousands have marched in downtown Los Angeles to protest immigration policy, as part of the marches taking place across the country. The rallies coincided with Congress discussing a new bill that would give a path to US citizenship to some 11 million illegal immigrants.

At least five people were arrested at a demonstration in New York City as police hounded approximately 150 May Day protesters en route to Union Square Park. As a procession of demonstrators marched toward the rallying point, a faction ran into the street waving red and black flags, denouncing capitalism.

NEW YORK

Witnesses told The New York Times that police chased the protesters into the street, forcing one to the ground violently.

“He wasn’t doing anything wrong,” one witness said. “He was crossing the street.”

Others in the crowd cursed and shouted at the police as uniformed officers pushed through the marchers, pushing pedestrians and news photographers alike.

Immigration reform takes center stage at Reno rally

The drumbeat for comprehensive immigration reform thumped down streets nationwide Wednesday, including Reno, as Congress prepares to address a bill this month that could present a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11 million living in the U.S. illegally.

THIS is what the media wants you to believe and see when they talk about May Day

Traditionally, May Day is a day for worker rights, dating back to Chicago protests in the late-19th century for the eight-hour work day. May Day serves as Labor Day in many countries.

Thousands attend Bay Area May Day protests

Thousands of people attended May Day protests in the Bay Area Wednesday.

The biggest crowd was in San Jose where a march stretched for blocks and blocks. The crowd consists of workers, labor groups, civil rights organizations, and religious groups — all focused on raising their voices that lawmakers in Washington need to agree on immigrant rights reform and providing a path for citizenship.

Immigration rights were also the focus of a May Day rally in San Francisco. A demonstration started at Mission and 24th streets in the Mission District and ended up at Civic Center Plaza.

SF BAY AREA

In Oakland, hundreds of immigrant workers, children and community members gathered at Fruitvale Plaza. The demonstration was designed to raise awareness of what they describe as the need to expand rights for all immigrants.

A paycheck away from being homeless

According to US government figures, more than a million school aged children are homeless.

In 2010, United States President Barack Obama pledged to end homelessness for children and families within a decade. Since making that promise, however, the number of families facing homelessness in the US has been climbing.

One paycheck away from homelessness and yet our government cuts “entitlements” (ie, social programs) while spending TRILLIONS of dollars for this?

Jane Burks is the president of Volunteers of America of Kentucky, an organization that helps homeless families get off the streets. She says so many working families in the US are living just one crisis away from being homeless. She says that’s because so many jobs in the US no longer pay a living wage.

“If you are making minimum wage, you actually need to hold down two jobs in order to afford a market rate apartment for a family of three or four people,” said Burks.

According to US government figures, more than a million school aged children are homeless. In the past year, the number of homeless families living in rural and suburban areas in the US, has risen by sixty percent.
Almost three years ago, President Obama unveiled a plan to end child and family homelessness in ten years. Yet, recent federal budget cuts have hit many of the programs designed to help needy families.

Lindsay Lohan to bring lots of baggage to rehab: 270 outfits for 90 days

“Hey, it’s really tough to be rich!”

It looks like Lindsay Lohan is planning to dress for success for her sixth stint in rehab. The troubled actress, who will start her court-mandated 90-day rehab sentence on Thursday at the Morningside Recovery Center in Newport Beach, Calif., won’t be traveling lightly. On Tuesday night, she posted a photo on her Instagram account of herself surrounded by luggage and clothing, along with the caption “90 days and 270 looks.”

Lohan’s rehab wardrobe, which would give her three separate outfits per day, will be put to good use at the rehab facility, which features group activities such as bowling, sporting events and even supervised barbecues on the beach.

An abundance of clothing isn’t the only thing that Lohan will be bringing to the rehab facility.

The actress will also have a hefty supply of cigarettes. Morningside, unlike Lohan’s first choice of rehab, the Seafield Center in New York, allows its residents to smoke in designated areas, prompting Lohan to change her rehab plans and fly west.

Lohan’s latest rehab sentence comes after she pleaded no contest in March to charges of lying to a police officer and reckless driving from a June 2012 car crash. In addition to her mandatory stay in a locked rehab facility, the actress must also complete 30 days of community labor, pay fines and restitution to her victim, and attend psychological counseling sessions.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?

Another weekend down and it’s time to get started on another week.

Tomorrow marks the 148^th anniversary of the surrender of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia by General Lee to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House.

If they’re even aware of this fact, most people fail to realize that it wasn’t really the end of a “civil” war. It was actually the end of the American Revolutionary War.

You see….

Most revolutions do not end cleanly.

There are always factions among the revolutionaries who will quarrel with each other over who will ultimately rule the roost.

Thousands, if not millions more die in the ensuing struggle.

It just took America longer to get to fighting with each other.

One “side” had finally had “enough” of what they thought of as being pushed around by the other “side”.

Never mind that one system favored actual slavery while the other side favored another form of slavery cloaked in the mantle of “freedom”.

Never mind that once again, the poor man fought the rich man’s war.

Never mind that the American Civil War never really ended in 1865 and that it just descended into a Cold War where, even today, we still fight amongst ourselves.

Yet, at least the slaves were freed and that’s a good thing that came out of the shooting war.

So…….

If and when we’ve finally had “enough” in this modern age……

What will our next revolution look like? Will we form coalitions to attack our current government and if successful, will we then fight another Civil War?

I think not. The time for violent revolution is past.

A new revolution would just get ruthlessly crushed unless the revolutionaries were able to secure help from a strong outside source.

Our “freedom” is always for sale to the highest bidder

Then what?

We’ll have replaced one form of government with whatever form of government the “helpers” want us to have, and nothing will really change.

The Banksters would still be in control.

So, when will we decide “enough is enough” and what can we do to keep the maggot banksters from returning to feed on our new society?

What can we do to prevent any country that would help a 2nd American Revolution from surreptitiously installing their “approved” new form of government?

When will we have enough of this crap?

Those are two questions we need to answer before we blindly strike out into the unknown.

As long as we allow the media to keep us fighting a “cold war” amongst ourselves, we will NEVER succeed in our ultimate goal of securing equal rights for every individual.

WE NEED TO STOP BELIEVING WHAT THE MEDIA TELLS US TO BELIEVE!

All the media is doing is keeping us in a state of perpetual “Cold Civil War” with each other and here’s a good example of this:

When President Clinton signed “welfare reform” into law in 1996, he promised to end welfare as we know it. Now, some new reporting suggests we’ve created a new kind of welfare — only most Americans aren’t aware of it.

The number of people who depend on checks from Social Security’s disability programs has soared in recent years, according to NPR’s series ‘Unfit for work: the Startling Rise of Disability in America’. The reports, which began over the weekend and continue this week, raise the question: How disabled are the recipients, really? As you might imagine, they have touched a nerve.

After six months of investigation, NPR reporter Chana Joffee-Walt concluded that Social Security’s disability programs have become “a de facto welfare program for people without a lot of education or job skills.” In the past three decades, she reports, the number of Americans who are on disability has skyrocketed:

Always looking for a sign, an indicator of where our society is heading

Here’s my experiment….

I will believe we’ve finally decided “enough is enough” when I look at the hit counter for this page and see that the words:

American Revolution, Occupy Wall Street, Media Lies, Protest, The Constitution, Civil War, Disability, Welfare, Poverty, and HUMAN RIGHTS are getting searched for more than just these few upcoming stories in today’s column.

Until then, I’ll believe we’re still content to be that frog on the stove in the pan of water that is very slowly going to poach to death.

A former Carson High School teacher accused of sexual conduct with a former student waived her preliminary hearing in justice court Thursday morning. Jennifer Dalton, 35, will be arraigned in district court at 9 a.m. April 2.

Assistant high school principal held in student sex case in Hemet

Do you know how old a woman this age looked to me when I was 15? YUCK!

A 45-year-old assistant high school principal in Hemet was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual battery and other crimes involving three boys who attend the school.

The three boys are students at the school, but none of the alleged acts occurred on campus, police said in a statement.

She was also arrested on suspicion of oral copulation, abnormal sexual interest in children and sending inappropriate or harmful matter via an electronic device.

Well, that’s a testimonial if ever there was one! Perennial health nut Gwyneth Paltrow told reporters on Thursday that adopting the Tracy Anderson Method has given her a completely different outlook on life — and a more shapely bum to boot!

Speaking to reporters at the opening of Tracy Anderson’s flagship studio in Los Angeles, Paltrow recalled one incident in particular, when she was trying on bathing suits with a pal and received a rather unusual compliment about her figure.

“I said, ‘You know, this isn’t so bad for 40, right?’” Paltrow mused of her butt. “And [my friend] goes, ‘It’s not so bad for a 22-year-old stripper!’”

Another weekend down and spent cutting firewood.

Since I still have all my fingers and toes, I guess the weekend was a success.

The news has been buzzing with a combination of bullshit that doesn’t matter, and other crap that is worded so skillfully that we barely notice it as it flies by on our TV and computer screens.

The usual stuff. North Korea. The Middle East. Africa in turmoil. Pakistan and India still hating each other while the Sikhs sit back quietly amused by it all….

I see Michael Moore said “90% of all guns in America are owned by scared white people” and Gwyneth Paltrow’s list of “must haves” for Spring tops $458,000 for “essential items”.

458k would buy a lot of Stihl and Husqvarna chainsaws (spring AND winter essentials) out here!

Let’s see if Gwynneth won’t reconsider her “spring price tag” down to about $800.00 for a new chainsaw and enough money to buy shelter, food and fuel.

Hell, most of those Hollywood types wouldn’t last a week out here.

But, just like “our” politicians, they’ve all either sold out, or have lost touch with reality.

Keystone XL picks up Senate backing

Who cares about oil companies raping the land when we can see pictures of white smoke rising above the crematorium at Auschwitz. OOPS….I meant white smoke above the Vatican!

The Senate on Friday voted 62-37 to approve the proposed Keystone XL oil sands pipeline in an amendment to Senate budget.

Sen. John Hoeven’s (R-N.D.) amendment was largely symbolic, but served as a clear statement that the Senate backs the pipeline.

“It puts the Senate on record in support of the Keystone pipeline project. And that’s just appropriate,” Hoeven said.

“The Department of State has done four environmental impact statements over the last five years — four — and said there are no significant environmental impacts. And it’s time that we in the Senate stepped up with the American people.”

Who cares about oil companies destroying the earth when we can look at bikini pictures of Gwyneth Paltrow and take her $458k advice on spring colon cleansing?

All Republicans voted in favor. The Democrats who supported the measure were Sens. Max Baucus (Mont.), Mark Begich (Alaska), Michael Bennet (Colo.), Tom Carper (Del.), Bob Casey (Pa.), Chris Coons (Del.), Joe Donnelly (Ind.), Kay Hagan (N.C.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Tim Johnson (S.D.), Mary Landrieu (La.), Joe Manchin (W. Va.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Bill Nelson (Fla.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), Jon Tester (Mont.) and Mark Warner (Va.).

Hoeven has proposed separate legislation that would bypass President Obama’s authority to decide the Canada-to-Texas pipeline’s fate. The White House has the final say because the project crosses an international border.

Who cares what WE want?

While that bill sits in the hopper, Hoeven’s budget amendment Friday kept up the drumbeat on Keystone.

GOP lawmakers have made much noise about the pipeline. In meetings with Obama last week, House and Senate Republicans pressed the president for a timeline on his decision — about which Obama was vague.

They, along with some unions and industry groups, say the pipeline would create jobs. They also tout the benefits of getting oil from Canada, an ally.

Obama has been noncommittal on Keystone. According to some Senate Republicans present at last week’s confab, the president said his decision would come by year’s end.

On top of that, the president told the GOP their claims about Keystone’s job creation prospects were exaggerated. He also suggested a good amount of the oil sands were destined for export.

Egads! For once I actually agree with her!

To that end, the Senate rejected Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) amendment that called for conducting more studies on Keystone while its application remains pending.

That amendment, which fell 33-66, aimed to answer questions of how much of Keystone’s oil is intended for overseas markets and how much of the pipeline’s steel would come from U.S. firms, among other things.

“It’s not true that all the work has been done. We don’t know how much of the steel will be American. We don’t how many of the jobs will be American. We don’t know if our national security people think that dirty tar sands is going to create climate disruption,” Boxer said after her amendment fell, before the Senate took up Hoeven’s measure.

Bloomberg behind $12m ad campaign for gun regulations

The commercial is an unambiguous appeal to gun owners: A middle-aged hunter, rifle in hand, vows that he will fight to protect the Second Amendment.

The man behind the advertisement is not known for his kinship with the gun crowd: New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, the nation’s fiercest advocate of restrictions on firearms since the December rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Determined to persuade Congress to act in response to that shooting, Bloomberg on Monday will begin bankrolling a $12 million national advertising campaign that focuses on senators who he believes might be persuaded to support a pending package of federal regulations to curb gun violence.

The ads, in a dozen states, will blanket those senators’ districts during an Easter congressional recess that is to be followed by debate over the legislation.

To this country boy, the solution if rich Hollywood Directors and Producers and Wall Street poltroons want gun control for the masses, all they have to do is pool their money together and pay “our” politicians on Capitol Hill more money than the NRA pays them.

After all, “our” senators and congressmen are all whores for sale to the highest bidder.

What the heck. Maybe if they throw enough money at Congress, they can get them to eliminate the entire Constitution.

They can even have ad campaigns designed to convince us that it would be great for all of us.

We don’t need rights or Constitutions to define our basic rights. We have DRONES to protect us!

After all, if we can throw out one part of the Constitution, it would be a great precedent for “our” lawmakers to start cutting out ALL the parts that actually favor “We, the people.”

But, what do I know.

I’m just a small town boy that cuts firewood now.

Never mind that in the past I worked on several big pipeline projects and recognized them for what they were.

They all created VERY temporary boom cycles for the local communities affected by the projects. The workers came in and then they left.

THIS is what you’re left with. Not jobs. And if the thing springs a leak, you either have BOOM!, or an environmental disaster and cleanup to deal with

What happened?

At first, all the local people were convinced to be for the project, but when they saw there really was nothing in it for them except for a screwed-up landscape and a big eyesore, they turned against the project.

The local motels, bars, and restaurants made some money, and then it was all gone.

Except for the fact that the local communities were left with an unsightly and sometimes dangerous pipeline in their midst. No long-term “jobs” were created.

The big companies took their money and ran.

But, it’s all good. Shareholders will make money. Oil company execs will make money. Politicians will make money. And we’ll be left forever waiting for the trickle down!

While our attention is somewhere else, we’ll all get knocked out if we lose our focus

Our Constitution will be dismantled bit by bit and we’ll be thinking about some starlets ass or whether or not Justin Beiber has a vagina.

While the earth is being destroyed, we’ll all cry and fight about gun control.

While the earth is being destroyed, we’ll all worry about not having $458k for “spring essentials”.

Screw Hollywood.

Screw Congress.

Screw Wall Street.

What a pussy

Today is the birthday of the savior of the “free” world, but there will be no celebrations, no fireworks, no speeches in his honor, and no accolades for the dead statesman.

You see…..

History remembers him as a “pussy.”

The “pussy” in question is Neville Chamberlain. For those of you who don’t know who he was, here’s a quick lesson:

Neville Chamberlain, was a British Conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May 1937 to May 1940.

Chamberlain is best known for his appeasement foreign policy, and in particular for his signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938, conceding the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia to Germany.

When Adolph Hitler continued his aggression by invading Poland, Britain declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, and Chamberlain led Britain through the first eight months of the Second World War.

I wonder what it was like for him to do what he knew was best for his country, knowing full well that he would be publicly humiliated and castrated. Seen for decades as a “man without balls”?

He knew full well if he didn’t appease Hitler in Munich that war with Germany would be almost inevitable. He knew his country was woefully unprepared for war. The RAF was severely understrength, and the British Army was very poorly equipped and would be no match for the German Army.

So, he followed his conscience and “sold out” Czechoslovakia in order to buy time for England to prepare for the Nazi onslaught that was sure to someday come.

He bought time for the free world. He did the right thing and was castigated.

Some in England and America even suggested that he was a traitor.

In today’s society, following your conscience and doing the right thing for your country WILL get you branded at best, an “activist” or “dirty hippie occupier” and at worst, A TRAITOR.

Branded a “pussy” by the very country you love and were willing to fight for. Put on trial.

Need proof? Google “Bradley Manning”.

I wonder if Bradley Manning will have to wait for 72 years like Neville Chamberlain did before historians begin to look upon him as a man with BALLS who did what was best for his country despite the risks?

That being said, let’s dive into the news. The nuclear issue is getting a lot of press these days. Here’s the latest:

The barrage of threats from North Korea has sparked talk from within South Korea of the need to develop its own nuclear weapons.

A recent poll shows that two-thirds of South Korean citizens surveyed support the idea, especially in the wake of North Korea’s third nuclear test in February.

“We, the Korean people, have been duped by North Korea for the last 20 to 30 years and it is now time for South Koreans to face the reality and do something that we need to do,” said Chung Mong-joon, a lawmaker in the governing Saenuri (New Frontier) Party and a former presidential conservative candiate. “The nuclear deterrence can be the only answer. We have to have nuclear capability.”

Has anyone ever stopped to look for a common denominator among the nations we count as our enemies (other than the fact we’re told they’re dangerous)?

None of those “enemies” would allow themselves to be dominated by WALL STREET and that’s precisely why we’re told they are our enemies.

The REAL weapon of mass destruction in this world of today is the dollar bill and the maximum profit mentality that is driving our economy and society into the ground.

The dollar bill kills more people every day than any battle ever fought throughout history.

So, what do we do about it?

Not much it seems. People will do ANYTHING for money.

Money has become a matter of survival for most of us and Wall Street knows it.

That’s why most of the money in this country is in the hands of the very few, who distribute just enough of the wealth to keep a small class/group of lackeys happy, pacified and in control of the rest of us “unwashed masses.”

The Democrats and Republicans may be worlds apart on most things, but at their headquarters just two blocks away from each other on Capitol Hill, each is confronting the same question:

In the wake of two presidential defeats, the Republican National Committee on Monday unveiled what it is calling its Growth and Opportunity Project, which is an effort to take the existing party engine and give it a top-to-bottom tuneup.

“There’s no one reason we lost. Our message was weak; our ground game was insufficient; we weren’t inclusive; we were behind in both data and digital; and our primary and debate process needed improvement,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said Monday.

“So, there’s no one solution. There’s a long list of them.”

Another conservative icon. Here we see Ann Coulter walking with a negro! Ain’t she modern and cool?

The report also recommends outsourcing to “friends and allies” at least some of the responsibilities that used to be considered the party’s job.

They include recruiting minority and women candidates, training grass-roots activists, registering voters and gathering and analyzing data.

Even the winning side of last year’s presidential election has been doing some re-examination.

This past week has seen President Obama’s old campaign operation relaunching itself as Organizing for Action, building a new political machine outside the Democratic National Committee and causing some quiet consternation among party traditionalists.

Madonna rips Boy Scouts at GLAAD Awards

I wonder if Madonna and Anderson Cooper slipped each other the tongue? Go back to your lunch now!

Madonna has never been a stranger to controversy, and she once again dipped her toe into those waters at last night’s GLAAD Awards, where she was presenting an award to Anderson Cooper.

Dressed in an oversized Boy Scout uniform, Madonna took the organization to task for its policy that bans gay people from joining.

“I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn’t let me join,” she said during a 10-minute speech. “I think that’s f–ked up. I know how to build a fire. I can pitch a tent … most importantly, I know how to scout for boys.”

The singer claimed/joked she was a Girl Scout and got kicked out for wearing a skirt that was too short and not selling enough cookies.

We take that money and put it to work repairing our crumbling infrastructure.

We take that money and put it to work rehabilitating our homeless and our veterans.

We take that money and put PEOPLE to work at WELL PAYING JOBS?

I GUARANTEE YOU that the VAST majority of our society wouldn’t care if their neighbors were gay or straight as long as THEY were reasonably prosperous and secure.

Yet, will we imagine any of this? Probably not. We’ll look at the pictures of Madonna and Anderson Cooper and cynically think:

“I bet between the two of them, they’ve seen more wieners than Yankee Stadium”!

So………

Hillary and Madonna will tout their support of gay rights in an effort to stay popular and relevant in today’s entertainment and political world (same thing).

Hillary is a politician who will say and do ANYTHING to get attention in an effort to get Wall Street’s backing to become their next middle manager for this country.

And Madonna….

Well, she’s just marketing herself. They’re not heroes. If they thought they could once again rise to the top and remain relevant by parading naked down Times Square with swastikas painted on their butts, they would do it hand in hand.

That ain’t the Swastika flag behind him, folks…..yet. But if our government has it’s way, it will soon be and he will be remembered by history in the same light as another (albeit British) National hero….Neville Chamberlain

So tonight, let’s all quietly raise a glass to the REAL HEROES of the free world and drink a toast to Neville Chamberlain and Bradley Manning.

READ THE FINE PRINT

Most of us KNOW this is a lie

Have you ever wished that your parents had been able to better equip you for life when you were growing up?

But that would be too easy.

Most of us are too stubborn to learn from the mistakes of others.

Oh, no.

We’ve got to learn our own cold hard lessons.

Besides, our parents were just muddling through life too. Kids don’t come with an instruction manual.

Anyway, what I’m getting at is most parents will at least try to teach their kids to watch out for liars and con-men, but they usually fail to teach a kid to also be able to recognize the half-truth.

Oh, yeah. It cures drunkenness alright, and makes your mate more docile. So, it’s the truth. What they don’t say is the main active ingredient is a large dose of MORPHINE

The deception.

The middle ground between truth and falsehood.

The purposely leaving out of important details.

The traps.

THE FINE PRINT.

You know….

The 47 pages of cautions that come with your prescription. The 15 pages of crap that comes with just about every “user agreement” on computer programs.

And so on forever…..

All the crap that makes us feel daily as if we’re a swashbuckler having to fight off the 50 evil sword fighters that are constantly trying to stab at us.

“Hope and change” my ass. Same as it ever was

Maybe it’s a cultural phenom where deception has become an accepted part of the game. We (and the “powers that be”) have learned that it isn’t the out and out obvious lie that’s dangerous.

Just as we’ve gotten good at spotting lies, we’re having to become experts at spotting deceptions.

You can argue that deceptions and lies are one and the same, but are they?

Case in point….

We’re being deceived by the media in this Nation without them ever having to actually baldface lie to us. Stories that actually matter are either buried in the “fine print” somewhere on page 5, or are completely ignored by all except the local news stations.

What gets the most airtime today is what used to be called the “filler” items, reserved for a slow news day.

And, just like the “fine print” pamphlets that come with your prescriptions, there are side-effects associated with this method of news reporting.

When I was in the hospital having heart surgery, the doctors put me on a drug they all said was necessary for my well-being. It’s designed to regulate heartbeat. Being the curious sort, I asked the nurse to give me the information sheet for the drug.

Jennifer Lawrence made the “news” for giving “the finger” to some people at the Oscars. Isn’t that news?

It was long and tedious, but it all boiled down to:

“May cause confusion. May cause distraction. May cause abnormal excitation and agitation. MAY CAUSE BLINDNESS.”

I called the nurse over and told her to take the IV out of my arm, so she called the doctor over. He told me the drug was necessary and that I could die without it.

I refused the drug. I would rather be dead than be stuck having to go through life blind, confused, distracted and agitated.

The doctor wasn’t lying. I could have died without the drug, but I decided the side-effects weren’t worth it.

And, teach your children to do the same.

Otherwise they’ll be fair game for every half-truth teller and huckster that comes around.…..

Digging a little deeper beyond the Rodmans, Popes and Sinkholes in the news, I came across this little item buried in the “fine print”…………..

Hanford waste tanks could leak 1,000 gallons per year

“THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE HERE. GO BACK TO THE STORY ABOUT THE EX-POPE”!

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Radioactive waste tanks may be leaking some 1,000 gallons per year at Hanford Nuclear Reservation, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said Wednesday officials are still evaluating how to effectively remove the remaining material from the problematic tanks.

The 1,000-gallon figure is a rough estimate based on the early assessment of six identified leakers. Inslee said the leakage numbers are still being evaluated to determine exactly how much has been lost and how fast the waste is leaving the tanks.

Inslee said there’s no available technology to plug the leaks, so federal and state officials are working to find the best available solution to remove the sludge. Inslee said that solution could come in weeks or months.

OH MY GOD! You mean there’s QUEERS in our High Schools? That’s much more important to worry about than radiation getting into our groundwater!

“We want to find the most expeditious way to get this job done,” Inslee said.

Hanford has 177 aging tanks that store millions of gallons of radioactive sludge. Inslee said faulty data analysis meant officials did not properly catch signs of leaking before now, and Inslee expressed concern about the other tanks at the reservation.

Federal officials say there is no immediate threat to public safety and that they have not detected any discernible change in contamination levels in monitoring wells.

Leakage has been a problem in the past, with an estimated 1 million gallons of radioactive liquid having already leaked, but the tanks were believed to have been stabilized in 2005.

Here’s another “good one” buried in the “fine print” that is a side-effect of a sick and distracted society:

On Purposely Getting Arrested, to Get Life-Saving Surgery

A 41-year-old man who had been incarcerated came to see me recently. While in prison he got in a fight, which led to a CT scan. He hadn’t broken anything, but the scan did surreptitiously show two aneurysms. Both were in his hepatic artery (the artery that feeds his liver).

Don’t pay attention to the REAL stories that are buried deep. Pay attention to the DISTRACTIONS!

They were small, so the doctors kept an eye on the aneurysms without doing surgery. But the next time they checked, they had nearly doubled in size.

He was referred to a surgeon at a different hospital than the one I work at, and underwent an angiogram, to see the aneurysms better. The surgeons there said that he was sure to die if they did not intervene, and that they should schedule a surgery within the coming weeks.

Fortunately for him (or so he thought) he was released from prison one week later. When he returned for his pre-op visit, though, he was told that since he’d been released from prison, he no longer had insurance to cover the operation.

He asked what he should do. The told him to figure out how to get insurance.

I think this patient would be the first to admit that he had made numerous mistakes in his life. And he had paid a significant price for them. He truly was ready to make changes, to live positively, to help those around him. But, not knowing what else to to, it occurred to him that the easiest way to get the care he needed would be to get back in prison.

Admit it. Isn’t it easier to conform, read about Rodman, look at naked clowns, and try not to think too deeply about things that affect our lives than it is to read the fine print? IT’S EASIER TO JUST TAKE THE PILL

The next week, he went to a department store and, making sure a security guard saw him, pocketed some moisturizing cream.

He looked up at the guard, smiled, and walked out.

After he was arrested, he wrote a note to the judge saying that he needed to get back into prison for a year, to get an operation.

He told me the judge said “I’ll give you 14 months, go get your surgery.”

Oh, he’s watching you alright, but he’s also laughing at you. Toying with us. Screwing us as if he’s just waiting to see what the threshold is for us to say:

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Then, all the “malcontents” will be rounded up under the NDAA and Patriot Act and sent to toil away in the prison industrial complex.

It will be as if the “cancer” was devouring all the healthy and free cells.

When “Occupy” was in full swing, a lot of my compadres used to say: “They can’t arrest us all.”

Just ask Sitting Bull and Wowoka about that one.

AND THEY HAD GUNS!

Meanwhile, in merry old England, they’re so screwed that the citizenry over there thinks getting screwed is the natural order of things.

Major banks have quickly become behind-the-scenes allies of Internet-based payday lenders that offer short-term loans with interest rates sometimes exceeding 500 percent.

With 15 states banning payday loans, a growing number of the lenders have set up online operations in more hospitable states or far-flung locales like Belize, Malta and the West Indies to more easily evade statewide caps on interest rates.

While the banks, which include giants like JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, do not make the loans, they are a critical link for the lenders, enabling the lenders to withdraw payments automatically from borrowers’ bank accounts, even in states where the loans are banned entirely. In some cases, the banks allow lenders to tap checking accounts even after the customers have begged them to stop the withdrawals.

A check of the “news” lately has everybody ducking their heads because they think they’re going to be hit by falling space rocks hurtling towards the earth.

Meanwhile, in Europe and the UK, it seems as if there’s an “outrage” over the fact that they’ve been eating horsemeat for years and never knew it.

“Back in the day”, our local burger place got closed down for serving goat meat in their hamburgers, so it was nothing new to me.

Pistorius ‘shot girlfriend through door’

Prosecutors in South Africa said on Tuesday that Oscar Pistorius, the South African Olympic sprinter, fired four shots and killed “an innocent woman”, as they contested his bail request.

The prosecution at Tuesday’s bail hearing in Pretoria said Pistorius fired four shots at Reeva Steenkamp, his girlfriend, who was behind a locked bathroom door at his home in a guarded and gated complex in the South African capital.

Gerrie Nel said Pistorius telling his sister that Steenkamp was an intruder was part of the plan, as he had to put on his prosthesis to walk at least seven metres to the bathroom.

“It was all part of the preplanning. Why would a burglar lock himself inside the bathroom?” Nel said.

Barry Roux, the defence lawyer, said the shooting was accidental: “We submit it is not even murder. There is no concession this is a murder.”

Citizens say NDAA echoes US policies of Japanese internment

This was the attitude towards Japanese people in 1941. ALL Japanese people. Even Americans who just happened to have the “wrong” shaped eyes. Complete with “They’re coming for our white women“!

What lessons has the United States learned from Japanese internment? Following the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, approximately 120,000 people of Japanese descent were forced from their homes and incarcerated in military-guarded camps from 1942-1946.

Although the majority of those interned were US citizens, they were not notified of their charges, nor were they guaranteed the right to a trial.

Now the descendants of Japanese-American internees argue that the United States is repeating history with the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act and its provision for the indefinite detention of US citizens.

Spending cuts: What you need to know

OH MY GOD…THE GOVERNMENT’S BROKE!

The budgets of most federal government programs and agencies will shrink on March 1.

Congress could prevent that from happening, but it’s not likely to do so before the deadline.

It’s still unclear, however, whether Congress would let the so-called funding sequester stay in effect for long.

So one way or another, here come the cuts.

What is the sequester exactly? It’s just a fancy word for automatic, across-the-board cuts in funding.

How much will be cut? The sequester would slash how much federalagencies are allowed to spend by $85 billion over seven months.

The White House estimates that funding for nondefense programs would be cut by 9%, while defense programs would be cut by 13%, for the seven months remaining in fiscal year 2013, which ends Sept. 30.

Fuck you, Congress

The funding reductions would come primarily from what’s known as discretionary spending. Discretionary spending supports a vast array of programs, agencies and services from the FBI to the FDA to support for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

There would also be some cuts in mandatory spending, which unlike discretionary spending isn’t subject to annual review by Congress. But popular entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security would be largely protected. So would safety-net programs such as Medicaid and food stamps.

Also exempt: military personnel and Veterans Affairs, although veterans may be hit in other ways, especially since they’re a big part of the Defense Department’s civilian workforce.

Personally, I think it would be great if the budget for the FBI (Fuckin’ Bunch of Imbeciles) was cut by 100% and all their cheap hoodlums were left to find real jobs.

Their latest FBI “sting” operation in Oakland, California netted yet another crazy that was set up by those FBI losers.

It seems as if the “crazy” put the word out that he wanted to bomb a government building, so he was contacted by an undercover FBI agent who provided him with a fake bomb and then the FBI arrested the crazy when he tried to detonate the device outside a public building in Oakland.

Great job, guys! Made all the papers again.

Why doesn’t the FBI go after real terrorists? Oh yeah. What they do on Wall Street is LEGAL. Enjoy your goatburger, citizen!

Did you ever think that maybe someday a “militia” group might “put the word out” they’re looking for some explosives to “do something big” and when undercover Special Agent Jones comes through for them, the militia group might just call all the media and other press to be present when they conduct a citizens arrest on the person who supplies the explosives?

That would be hilarious.

You see though…

The problem is……

Someday, a “nutcase” is going to figure out he’s being set up and do a switcheroo of the fake bomb for an identical-looking real bomb and have an accomplice nearby with their finger on the detonator switch.

Then, a lot of innocent people are going to get killed because the FBI wanted to play their little “sting” game. Maybe even some of those people collecting their “entitlements” might get killed.

Arrest them ALL

You know, their Social Security “entitlement” that they’ve paid into for 50 years that Congress has been siphoning off for decades now?

There’s your real crime, Mr. Special Agent. Arrest those bastards in DC and not some nutcase you’ve set up just to get good press.

Good press is just “Bread and Circuses” for the masses, just as celebrity murders and suicides get played up to distract us away from the REAL crimes in this world.

But, what the hell?

As a friend of mine used to say: “I used to be disgusted. Now, I’m just amused.”

What the hell?

I think I’ll spend the rest of the day cutting firewood and surfing the web.

Moving on….

Quite awhile back, I was having a political discussion with someone I hadn’t seen in over 30 years. Someone who had married a rich Englishman, moved to England, affected a British accent, and now thinks her very British shit doesn’t stink.

She constantly touted the superiority of the English, and casted aspersions on all things American.

Little does she realize that with the caste system they have “across the pond”, she will never be among the aristocracy because she wasn’t born into it.

Little does she realize that she’s probably laughed at behind her back by the REAL aristocrats who see her in the same light that an American hayseed would look at a cute sheep.

A farm animal. Maybe good for a screw, but nothing more.

Anyway……

It’s always easier to be a skeptic than it is to think for yourself and do some research

She was really down on the “Occupiers” for being “crybabies” and argued that the protesters should just “get a job” and “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” because protesting on Wall Street was pointless.

She said, that if they wanted to protest, they should be protesting in Washington, DC.

Sound familiar?

Well, I tried to point out to her that the REAL seat of control is Wall Street and not DC.

I said: “It’s pretty darned hard to pull yourself up when all the bootstraps are now made in China due to the maximum profit mentality that has poisoned our society to death.”

She laughed and dismissed me as a “Conspiracy Theorist.”

I changed tactics and pointed out to her that during the early years of WWII, the English Government finally went broke trying to finance their fight against Hitler.

Do you think Jamie Dimon really gives a shit who is in charge of the government?

The Bank of England wasn’t going to loan the government any more money to fight the war, and The Bank was going to let Hitler win.

These are facts that can be researched.

I said, “So you see, whoever controls the cash, inevitably controls the world.”

She smugly dismissed the facts with the statement: “It’s all Hollywood History.”

I gave up. I realized I was having a discussion with someone who either couldn’t, or didn’t want to know the truth.

Which brings me to…..

BLIND FAITH.

Whether we want to admit it or not, we’ve all got to believe in something.

Do you believe everything you read just because there’s been a “study” done on the topic?

What does Calico Blackie believe?

There’s an old song which was recorded by the band Blood, Sweat & Tears that contains the line:

“I swear there ain’t no Heaven, but I pray there ain’t no Hell”….

That’s what I believe.

What else do I believe?

I believe that extremism is dangerous.

I believe that anybody who thinks they are somehow SUPERIOR to any other human being for reason of race, color, creed, sexual orientation or social standing is also dangerous.

Do you believe?

BLIND FAITH IS DANGEROUS when it causes an individual to hate their fellow human beings simply because they don’t think as you do.

It’s even more dangerous when we get whole groups of people or nations believing in that superiority.

So now, we’ve “evolved” into a world where whole huge groups of people hate each other and think they are somehow better than the rest.

The extreme atheists think they have the answer and that most of the problems in the world can be solved by abolishing religion.

How can they accomplish this? Why, by killing off the “believers” of course and FORCING their will on the masses!

Is it dangerous to make people think?

The extreme Vegans think that most of the world’s problems can be solved if we all stopped eating meat.

How can they accomplish this? Why, by killing off the “carnivores” of course and FORCING their will on the masses!

The extremely religious people out there all think that they have the “true faith” and “the one true God” and are more than willing to kill their fellow human beings who don’t see things their way. They think the world’s problems can be solved if we all adopted their religion.

How can they accomplish this? Why, by killing off the “infidels” of course and FORCING their will on the masses!

Will we ever learn on our own?

The extreme racists think that most of the world’s problems can be solved if we all were members of the same ethnic group.

How can they accomplish this? Why, by killing off the people who weren’t born with their skin color of course and FORCING their will on the masses!

And so on, forever.

But, truth be told, they’re all wrong.

Members of the same races, colors, beliefs and creeds have been killing each other off throughout our history. Even if we all woke up tomorrow and discovered that every group which we thought we were superior to had vanished from the earth overnight, we would still fight wars, starve each other, exploit the weaknesses of others, and, in general, life would go on with all it’s associated misery, wars, and yes, even joys as if nothing drastic had happened.

Is this true for most people?

Why?

Because whether you’re an atheist, a racist, an infidel, a vegan, a “true believer” or cut from any stripe……

There’s a new “god” in town. But it’s not new. It’s always been around in one form or another.

It’s called: MONEY and as long as we’re a materialistic human race, we’ll be killing each other off forever.

Oh, you can argue the example of the American Indians and how they weren’t aware of the concept of money before they were corrupted by the “evil white man” but that’s bullshit.

They were perfectly aware of the concept of “trade goods” and natural resources, and land, which they gladly killed each other to get. Money with just another name.

Call it wealth, if you will.

So, what can we do?

Look around you. What do you see?

We can make people aware of what’s really going on in the world. We can urge people to reject materialism and greed. We can point out the follies we’re fighting each other over.

We can point out that most of the reasons we kill each other over aren’t because of race, color, creed, or sexual orientation.

We kill each other over money and greed. The greed of the few who control the media and the cash and can whip us up and manipulate us into a frenzy at any time to go kill our fellow human beings.

And for what? So that “the few” can have even more money!

Maybe it’s time to begin looking at things from ALL angles and not just from the angle we’re comfortable with

Oh, they’ll dangle a few carrots before our eyes to make us lust for more money for ourselves, but it’s an illusion.

They will never give up their stranglehold on the human race unless we force them to do it.

And we’ll never be able to force them to do it until there’s a rise in the consciousness of the entire world and a new way of thinking.

In short, we’ll probably never be able to do it because there will always be those among us who will slavishly suck the dicks of their masters in the hopes that they will get a bigger scrap from the masters table.

So, what can we do? We can live our lives as best as we can, in every sense of the word. We can reject materialism to a certain extent and still live.

Sometimes, things have to be spelled out for some people

WE CAN LEARN TO RECOGNIZE BULLSHIT WHEN WE SEE IT AND WE CAN POINT OUT THE BULLSHIT TO OTHERS SO THAT THEY CAN SEE IT AS BULLSHIT TOO!

But, what do I know?

Point out the bullshit, and you’re branded a “conspiracy nut.”

Speak out on your job or in your profession about the injustice of it all, and you get fired and/or blackballed.

Why? Because money is power and it controls EVERYTHING.

For instance, look at our news media and even our movies.

There was a scene in the old movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” where Richard Dreyfuss was sitting at a table with news reporters and other people who claimed to have seen aliens.

Who did the reporters flock to for their story?

Was it the “reasonably sane” people? No, it was the “nutcase” who also claimed to have seen Bigfoot.

“Let’s all laugh at the nutcase”

That’s what people want to see.

They want to be reassured that when phenomena occurs on this earth that can’t be explained, it can be easily brushed aside as a figment of some lunatics imagination.

When you watch the news, have you ever noticed that the members of the LGBT community interviewed are either the “swishers” or the “bulldykes”?

Have you ever noticed that the people in the forefront of the fight for gun control are the “bleeding hearts” who probably can’t even wipe their own noses, and when they interview someone opposed to gun control, it’s usually some “gun-nut with a hard-on” who has a whole house full of weapons?

WE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CALL “BULLSHIT” ON THIS TACTIC USED TO KEEP US DIVIDED AND FIGHTING AMONG OURSELVES, and we need to start keeping an open mind.

THINK FOR YOURSELF. DON’T BE BLINDED BY FAITH IN ANYTHING.

If I suddenly found myself having to spend a night in a deserted farmhouse and my fellow houseguests included Jack Nicholson, Steven King, Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, and as a capper, Sharon Stone in my bed, I sure would try to last longer than six minutes and I SURE AS HELL wouldn’t fall asleep all night for fear of feeling an ice-pick or an axe!

I know, all unreasonable thoughts. None of those people even know I exist, and couldn’t care less. But, the thoughts are there nonetheless.

Even if it were to happen, the reality is that I would probably “die in the saddle” and my wife wouldn’t be very “Happy”.

Think about what????

So, we should all know our own minds and try to separate the reasonable from the unreasonable and learn to question the information we’re fed on a daily basis.

Maybe there are some of us who are not “nuts” for refusing to be gullibly led off a cliff.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY?

Here’s our new President: Katy Perry, performing at an inaugural event. Would it make a bit of difference?

The inauguration was held yesterday with all the associated pomp, circumstance, bells, whistles, parties, balls, and celebrities.

All of my “liberal” friends were swept up in an orgasmic euphoria over the proceedings saying things like:

“It’s tradition and it makes us proud to live in a country where every four years there is a means for a peaceful transition of power.”

They out and out gloated to their conservative friends who see it as the beginning of the end.

Me? I just thought it was a horrible waste of money and that most of the “events” were trashy attempts to provide yet more bread and circuses to the masses.

I can hear the redneck conversations now: “Our new president is a….. DINGGG!”

So, the “liberals” were happy and the “conservatives” gritted their teeth and fumed.

I guess it’s like real life where it’s always better to choose who fucks you. Make no mistake, you’re still getting screwed, but at least you have the promise and illusion that one candidate will use lube beforehand.

The situation (and comments) would have been completely reversed if Mitt Romney had been the one elected to be Wall Streets middle manager for this country.

Corporate Profits Have Grown By 171 Percent Under Obama — Highest Rate Since 1900

Business executives like to portray the Obama administration as the “most anti-business” in history, creating an “increasingly hostile work environment for investment and job creation.” However, the data tells a far different story.

“See? Profits are UP under Obama!” I sure feel better now

Profits are more than twice as high as their peak during President Ronald Reagan’s administration and more than 50 percent greater than during the late-1990s Internet boom, measured by the size of the economy.

Average annual corporate profit growth under Obama is the hightst since 1900, whereas profit growth declined during both Bush presidencies.

As a share of the economy, corporate profits have never been higher.

Unfortunately, this profit deluge has not been shared by workers, whose wages as a percentage of the economy have fallen to an all-time low. Workers also got dinged by the recent increase in the payroll tax, which was large enough to wipe out a minimum wage increase in some states.

Executives of the Business Roundtable are urging Congress to raise the Social Security and Medicare age eligibility to 70, from the current 67, and to adopt means testing for wealthier retirees, in order to keep the entitlement programs solvent longer-term.

“When you look long-term at the U.S. fiscal health, you have to look at these questions,” said Business Roundtable President John Engler during meeting with reporters in Washington Tuesday.

The idea is not likely to be popular. The Simpson-Bowles deficit reduction committee saw opposition when it suggested lifting the retirement age to 69. The Roundtable executives argue that raising the level gradually for those less than 55 years of age now will provide substantial long-term savings to the entitlement programs, while still giving Americans time to adjust to the new requirements.

A report due out this week from a financial advisory firm found that more than one in four workers dip into retirement funds to pay their mortgages, credit card debt or other bills.

Those in their 40s have been the most likely culprits — one-third are turning to such accounts for relief.

Hundreds of Chinese factory workers angry about strictly timed bathroom breaks and fines for starting work late held their Japanese and Chinese managers hostage for a day and a half before police broke up the strike.

About 1,000 workers at Shanghai Shinmei Electric Company held the 10 Japanese nationals and eight Chinese managers inside the factory in Shanghai starting Friday morning until 11.50 p.m. Saturday, said a statement from the parent company, Shinmei Electric Co., released Monday.

It said the managers were released uninjured after 300 police officers were called to the factory.

We should also blame the economy for so many people going hungry in our nation, because I have a job and I am fed.

“But it’s not our fault. We’re not responsible.”

It is sad how isolated we are in our society, taking no stock in our fellow people. It is not the job of our fractured government to take rights away in order to keep us safe from each other.

No, it is our job to give a crap about those around us.

But, since we are all afraid to do anything differently than we have for so long, let`s just go on blaming guns.

I mean, why not?

The government obviously knows what`s best for me and how I should live my life.

So…….

If you don’t like the direction this country is headed in, don’t move away where you think it will be better…..

Stay here and work with us to make this country better!

Why do I bother? Because, it’s all of our responsibility.

Plus, it helps me to ease the frustration of watching a country I love get poured down the toilet while the banksters laugh all the way to the bank.

So, are you in? Or, are you irresponsible?
